It could be the filter if it hasn't been changed in awhile. You may have a clogged air filter or vacuum leak. You could have a bad fuel injector or it may need a tune up. Make sure all your fluid levels are correct, oil, collant, and transmission fluid.
Have the shop check fuel pressure at the fuel rail. Maybe the pump impeller has failed. If fuel pressure is good, your timing chain/belt may have slipped.
I hate to be a **** and say this, but it's a Dodge. I had this same exact car, same year that you had for give years, and I hated it more than any vehicle I have ever owned. I don't know how any of them still exist. I'm sorry you're having these issues. Check spark plug wires too. Also, things that are commonly replaced in that car would be 02 censor, and the CD Player not working? Try to replace it with a factory one from a junk yard or something, see if it works...if not, it's probably what I like to call 'Dodgeitis'.
i would start with a good tune up
plugs, wires, cap, rotor. fuel filter . and clean your throttle body
a bad O2 sensor will not make it spit and sputter that is a misfire.
good luck
