Where is the fuel pump and filter located on a 1985 Ford Crown Victoria with a 5.0
Car died while driving, towed home, cranks but will not turn over. Parts house said I might have two different pumps either an in line electric or in tank. Any suggestions or diagrams would be great.

Air in the fuel line. Take one small wire off the starter relay and turn and hold the key in the start position for a while. Listen for the fuel pump. It will run fast for a second then slow down. When it does, put the wire back on the starter relay and crank the engine.
You can tell if the fuel pump is working when you turn the car to the "on" position, not cranking it over, but just on, you should hear the pump prime.
Im not sure how hard they are to change however, if it's an in-tank filter, you need to drain, and drop the tank to change it.
Hello;
It sounds from your description that the fuel pump is weak. To check the fuel pressure you need a fuel pressure test gauge for fuel injection. Attach the gauge to the test port schrader valve and turn the ignition to the on position. Record the reading. Now start the engine and record that reading. Unplug the pressure regulator vacuum line and record the reading.
The pump should have pressure with in specs but if low, start with the installation of a new complete pump. It is located in the fuel tank. Also replace your fuel filter.
Hope this helps you.
Thanks;
Rich
