How do I remove the lines from the rack and pinion on a 2000 Ford Mustang?

You may have to be under the car to trace the line. It will run from the PS pump down behind the engine to where it connects to the rack and pinion steering gear. The rack and pinion is on a subframe piece below and behind the engine. The 2 PS lines connect on the driver's side of the rack and pinion, if like nearly all GM cars.

The pressure line can be disconnected from the pump (suction out the fluid first or it will leak all over), up at top, and then disconnect it at the rack and pinion. If this fitting on the rack is hard to reach, you may need a crows foot wrench to loosen it and remove-I'm not sure about aleros. After disconnecting it top and bottom, check for any brackets that hold the two lines together, and for a bracket that may hold the lines secure on the backside of the engine.

If it is clear water, and its leaking onto the ground, and you are running the ac, its condensation from the ac.

Most likely the seals on either the pump or the rack and pinion. Could be a leaking hose between the two. Might be a loose or leaking hose connection at the pump or at the rack and pinion. If you lose the fluid in a short period of time it shouldn't be to hard to find the leak, and you are also smelling it burn when it hits the the exhaust pipes. Refill the system and with the engine running have someone turn the steering wheel back and forth while you look at the pump, lines, and at each end of the rack and pinion. you WILL find the leak.

i don't think you can bleed rack and pinion it is a loop systeminone way and out the other.

Disconnect battery ground cable.
Remove engine Air Cleaner (ACL) .
Disconnect electrical connector in back of engine cooling fan motor.
Remove radiator fan shroud.
Disconnect constant control relay module harness from headlamp harness and place constant control relay module on top of engine to provide accessibility to power steering lines.
Remove wiring harness guide retaining screws and position guide aside.
Remove screw at power steering hose bracket.
Remove anti-rattle clip.
Remove plastic strap retaining tubes to power rack and pinion steering gear.
Remove power steering pressure hose at power steering pump.
Remove power steering pressure hose at power rack and pinion steering gear.
Remove power steering pressure hose from vehicle.
Reverse procedure to install new hose.
Fill and bleed power steering system.

This is a repair that should not be attempted by a novice! Put the van in the air,remove the front wheels,remove the cotter keys from the tie rod ends and remove the nuts and separate from the spindle,Remove the Power steering lines from the rack and pinion unit,Remove the single bolt that attaches the rack to the steering shaft,Remove the two large steering rack mounting bolts from the engine/transaxle cradle, with support under the engine/transaxle cradle remove the rear mounting bolts slowly lower the cradle slowly to gain access to remove rack assembly and reverse for installation. NOTE: Install new seals on the power steering lines and when removing outer tie rods from the rack count how many turns it takes to remove the end and put it back on the same amount of turns. Refill the system with proper fluid and have the vehicle Front end aligned!!!!!!!!

take it to a mechanic, this is not a job for a novice

could you have a binding tie rod end or ball joint?  Yes there is adjustment on the rack and pinion at the tie rod ends. 

Generally on the fords, you'll find the Hi-pressure hose is the one coming out of the pump with a swivel connection allowing movement of the pipe. The return line is clamped to the PS pump.

To always be absolutely sure with a pump, remove the lines & turn the pump in the correct direction to see which outlet forces fluid out.
