Trac light on want shift gear

SOURCE: my 98 cavalier manual stick shift will not go to reverse gear

sounds like the shifter linkage has worn and not working properly need to lift in air and inspect the linkage

I went to get in my car tonight to leave and my console gear shift would not shift out of park. The gear shift button will not press in. Absolutely nothing! I have a 2007 Chevrolet Impala. Anyone know of this problem and what is the solution?
