That compression is pretty low, you should be seeing around 140+ per cylinder. I would try a squirt of 90 weight in each hole and see if it will start.

I have a 1997 nissan pickup with a 2.4 liter engine. I am having trouble getting the correct firing order. The distributor cap has one connector forward. The valve cover says 2400 12 valve on it.

Question moved from 'Garden' to Nissan Cars and Trucks.

2400 is 2400 cubic centimeters which is the same as 2.4 liters. It is an inline 4 cylinder engine, so there is 3 valves per cylinder making 12 valves total, normally 2 intake valves and one large exhaust valve.

The firing order is in the link, 1-3-4-2

1992 mercury tracer has gas spark and timing is on won't start acting like the timing belt broke

To much gas washes the cylinder walls, removing oil and lowering compression.Spark may be at plugs but may be to weak to jump the spark plug gap under compression. Also if spark plugs are black with carbon the spark may follow the carbon on them to ground and not jump the spark plug gap.
So.....put a small amount of oil in each cylinder, make sure plugs are CLEAN,give it a shot of quick start and give it a try with a FULLY charged battery.

1993 nissan pickup 12 valve running of 3 cyliners. Removed spark plug wires and found that one cylinder was dead, then removed the spark plug wire from this cylinder, grounded it and had spark.

Can you do a compression test?

There may be something amiss with the piston or valve.. and it's usually the exhaust valve that has burnt/split, allowing compression to be kicked straight out of the exhaust. The symptom of a burnt/split exhaust valve is akin to a misfiring spark plug

1992 rough idle

Could be anything. Vacuum, valves, rings, tune up. Check vacuum lines. Then check compression before you do a tune up. If you have bad compression in a cylinder, tuneups don't help. In that case, either drive it till it dies or replace/rebuild the engine.

Water in oil 1995 Nissan pickup

It sounds like you have either an intake gasket leak or a head gasket going bad. Did you check compression on all cylinders or just 1?

Is there an on line spark plug diagram for a 1983 nission pickup

Is that the engine with two spark plugs per cylinder? There is a good forum site for your pickup at Yahoo Groups. Look for Datsun 720 Pickups (your model is the 720).

I just bought a 1986 nissan pick up we bought a battery, a fuel filter, and a starter and it still wont start what could be the problem.

it could be many things - this is what a mechanic would check.

the main things you need to start the engine is fuel a spark and air.
if one if these are not present the vehicle will not start.
check that the air filter is not blocked
check that the ignition sytem is working and a spark is present at the spark plugs and that they are clean and set correctly.

if the vehicle is running on diesel ensure the injectors are working a spark is not needed as the fuel will ingite through compression.

ensure that fuel is getting into the cylinder and that the cylinders have compression. this can be checked by fitting a compression guage in the sparkplug hole and cranking over the engine.

check that the exhaused is not blocked and that the burned gas can escape.

i hope this was helpful.
