The following information courtesy of obd codes.com P0014 - "B" Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance (Bank 1) OBD-II DTC Trouble Code Description "B" Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance (Bank 1) What does that mean? A code P0014 refers to the VVT (variable valve timing) or VCT (variable camshaft timing) components and the car's PCM (powertrain control module, also called an ECM). That consists of a few different components but the P0014 DTC specifically refers to the camshaft (cam) timing. In this case, if the cam timing is above a set limit (over-advanced), the engine light will be illluminated and the code will be set. Bank 1 is the side of the engine containing cylinder #1. The "B" camshaft shall be either the "exhaust," "right," or "rear" camshaft. Left/Right and Front/Rear are determined as if viewed from the driver's seating position. Potential Symptoms Most likely a P0014 DTC will result in one of the following: hard starting, poor idle, and/or stalling. There are potentially other symptoms as well. Of course, when trouble codes are set, the MIL (malfunction indicator lamp, a.k.a. the check engine light) illuminates. Causes A P0014 DTC trouble code may be caused by one or more of the following: Incorrect camshaft timing Wiring problems (harness/wiring) in intake timing control valve control solenoid system Continuous oil flow to VCT piston chamber Failed timing valve control solenoid (stuck open) Possible Solutions This DTC code is a result of a mechanical fault of the VCT unit or related components, so there is no need for electrical diagnosis. Refer to vehicle specific repair manual to perform component tests for the VCT unit. Notes: Dealer techs have advanced tools and the ability to follow detailed troubleshooting steps, including the ability to test components using a scan tool. Thanks and I've also found this in my search. The way I understood it, and after googling it, pointed me in the direction of replacing the camshaft position sensor. Which I did. Besides that l, I'm not a mechanic, so after reading the article, now I'm not sure what direction to go.
but have you tested and or checked the vct and this usually doesnt cause a no start ---you may have skipped a tooth or have a timing chain problem because if fuel and spark and you changed and rechecked sensors should fire --try spraying starter fluid if start and you have fuel pressure in fuel lines than recheck the sensors you changed and regulator --

Is it getting gas to the cylinders , is there spark at the spark plugs ! You should check thing's out before replacing parts an hoping it fix's the problem .You need to find out what is missing ,fuel ,ignition or an engine problem ! Cranking No Start Real Time Diagnosis Ford Focus

You are incorrect sir. There is a very good Youtube video showing you exactly where it is that is how I changed mine. The Crankshaft is located behind the engine block below and around from the cam sensor which is easly spotted looking at the engine. The crankshaft is in a difficult spot but once you figure out where it is it's easy...ish hope this helps

Got spark and getting fuel. Got code p0014.
The powertrain control module (PCM) supplies a 12-volt reference circuit and a low reference circuit to both the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor and the camshaft position (CMP) sensor. The CKP sensor sends a signal to the PCM with each revolution of the crankshaft. The CMP sensor sends a signal to the PCM with each revolution of the camshaft. This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) monitors the CKP signal and the CMP signal to determine if they are synchronized. If both signals are not observed by the PCM within a narrow period of time, the PCM will determine that an error has occurred and DTC P0016 will set.
Check for the following items:
• A loose or missing distributor hold down bolt
• A loose CMP sensor causing a variance in the sensor signal
• An incorrectly installed distributor - 1 tooth off in either advance or retard positions
• A loose distributor rotor on the distributor shaft
• Excessive free play in the timing chain and gear assembly
Hope this helps , how many miles on the vehicle ? I'd look for slop in the timing chain !
