the misfire could also be the coil that is what send's the spark to the distributor, if it is weak it will cause a random mis fire code for any cylinder, the plug wire's on my 2000 xterra are numbered it will be the second plug on the driver's side of the engine, the cam sensor will also give a mis fire code if it is malfunctioning, I have a 2000 xterra that is a night mare when it come's to code's and repair's it is not alway's the first thing you think with these vehicle's, try to change all the plug's and dis connect the battery for 20 minutes then hook it back up and run down to your local autozone or pep boy's and have them hook up an OBD to see if it is fixed or if another code appear's
You might want to check the distributor. Take the cap off and check if there is play on the rotor shaft. It's only supposed to turn, but if there's play when moving it back and forth, better you replace the distributor now. The 2000-2004 Xterras have a bad distributor shaft and the throttle positioner sensor is on the shaft. Just FYI.
if its the whole car doing it not just the motor check the tires. if tires are out of balance or warped then typical they will buck or jump from 50-60 maybe 65 mph
change one spark wire at a time on the distributor.buy new set of spark plugs wires remove them from box.match old wires with new wires to use the correct length to each cylinder.now if you need to change distributor cap.mark location distributor cap.number tag plug wires on the distributor cap so you can remove plug wires on distributor cap so you can replace cap and rotor and put wires back on the distributor cap in correct place.remember change one plug wire at a time so you wont get confuse.
You got a timing chain
Injector cleaner,in my opinion is a waste of money
PO306 could be a missing coil on cyl #6,still should start
PO325 Knock Sensor-most likely okey
Plugs, cap and rotor, will not prevent it from starting,it used to run with old parts, before the current problem!
I suggest you make sure you got the plug wires on correctly and number them with a ball point pen,on both ends.
Make a diagram of the dist cap wire locations.
Check out the TPS Sensor and make sure you have all intake ducting in place. You need the MAF Sensor in the system to run have it run
Have you checked fuel pressure? The pump may be going bad
Pull # 1 spark plug, install compression gauge or somehow block hole and jog engine until you feel or record compression, then line up TDC marks on crank pulley. Now when you drop distributor in, rotor should line up with # 1 spark plug wire tab under cap. Make sure you have all ignition spark disconnected, one way or another. If you haven't pulled other distributor yet, it should be easier, just mark housing for reference, jog until rotor is at # 1 tab, remove old one and re-install new in same position.
hi testing a ditributor is usualy done visualy.. you can atatch a lead to the dizzy and the attatch a dummy spark plug, you can get them from auto shops, when you turn the engine over the plug will spark, and you can determine quality of the spark by how bright it is, you can test leads with a multimetre useing ohms for resistance and the leads should have a spec written on them, be carefull not to touch anything when the engine is being turned over because the current can be potentialy fatal
If your engine is a four cylinder, the firing order is as follows; from left to right on the block..1-2-3-4...look at the top of the distributor cap: counter clockwise from #1, the order is...1-3-4-2. If your engine is a six cylinder, face the front of the engine...left bank is: 1-3-5...right bank is: 2-4-6...look at top of distributor cap starting with #1...read counter clockwise...1-2-3-4-5-6. Let me know how you make out. Master [email protected]
Have you changed all the plugs to platinum and wires? My xterra was doing that and I changed all of them and now it runs great. Also, I changed the distribitor cap and rotor button.
I had a problem on my Nissan Xterra 2000. Symptons sound similar. In my case, it ran fine for a while and then suddenly the engine starts to stumble and lose output. At one point it did not even have enough HP to move. Irregular idling too. Thought it was water in my fuel. Bought water remover from the store and added to gas tank. Problem did not go away. Instead, "Service Engine Soon" light came on. Had to have it towed to the dealer as there was no way the engine could keep up with traffic. Dealer replaced the "Crank Position Sensor" today. Parts $33.00, Labor: $300 (about 3 hrs worth of work). Seems to work fine now but I will wait and see. Dealer also stated that Distributor bearing appears to be noisy and will need to be replaced sooner or later. I will wait for it to go before I fix that.
