SOURCE: how to replace 1989 plymouth voyager starter?
John:
It's not bad at all. Ijust replace my starter on my F150. Here's the steps.
1. Jack up your car and please use jack stands. Don't rely on your jack when you are under the car.
Safety first!!!!
2. disconnect the ground terminal of the battery.
3. get under the car and disconnect the terminals on the starter. There should be 2. one is a large cable that comes directly from the battery and the 2nd is a smaller wire that comes from the ignition key.
4.Loosen the bottom bolt first and remove.
5. Loosen and remove the top bolt. It helps if you have a helper that holds the heavy starter as you remove the top bolt. You can do it your self, just be careful.
6. Remove the starter. I assume that the new starter also has a new solenoid already attached to the new starter.
7. Installation is the reverse. Start the top bolt first. this is a little tricky because the starter is heavy.
8. There's not a lot of room on most cars. Be patient and don't hurry.
Hope this helps. Good luck Loringh PS Please give me a rating

Which engine?
To replace the drive belt or serpentine belt on a Voyager check the engine size. For 2.4L engines, a serpentine belt runs the air conditioning compressor and alternator. For 3.0L models, the alternator and power steering share a belt with a separate belt for the AC. Dodge recommends checking the belts every 15,000 miles or 12 months for possible replacement. I have gone 3 yrs with one.. it will start squealing when you turn on the heater to defrost..

Most replacement belts have a diagram on the package. However, the easiest way is to pay close attention to the belt you are taking off, and replace the new one the same way. The pulleys themselves are usually 'grooved' or 'smooth' which tells you whether the front or back of the belt is against it. The hardest part is figuring out how to release tension on the idler-pulley. If you can get the belt on and the idler/tension pulley (same thing) pulls the belt tight, chances are you got the belt right. If you don't know what I mean, then the mostest best way is to get a Clymer Manual and read up. Its really a simple thing to do yourself.
I used a long heavy duty screw driver to release the tension on a Pontiac Sunbird.. the belt will only fit on one way..

When the ECM is replaced you need to have it reprogrammed. It may run the engine for a bit but there are t many variables to keep it going. Some auto parts stores are doing this now. call around. Much cheaper than a dealer. If you had it reprogrammed then you need to check the codes. This will give a direction to go.
