Mdx 3rd row seat latch broken can not raise seat up

If the motor is turning but the seat is not raising you have gear of shaft, issue.

Removal and Installation

CAUTION: To prevent possible damage to the third row seat or the safety belts, make sure that the safety belts are not fastened when moving the seat to the load floor position.

CAUTION: Make sure that no objects such as books, purses or briefcases on the floor in front of the third row seats or on the seat cushion before lowering the backrest(s).

NOTE: The third row seat backrests need to be in the raised position for removal of the third row seats.

All seats


Remove the load floor panel.
Remove the jack assembly.
Remove the load floor panel latch striker bolts and the latch striker.
Remove the 3 pin-type retainers and the jack storage compartment liner.
Remove the 2 bolts in mid-floor panel support, lift on the front of mid-floor panel support to release the 3 retainer clips and remove the panel support.

These are cable controlled and linked remove the seat and cycle the locks and see if they move together, if not a cable has broken or come unhooked. Most of these seat backs are Val crowed so it may open right up

do you have the owners manual ? check for any object that may have got into the locating latch a small stone would be enough to stop it engaging/locking in place

you have to pull the part you sit on up and forward (to front of truck) then the backs will just fold down sams as trail blazer

There are two 7.5A fuses in-line located under the left 3rd row seat.
The exact location is behind the seat, below the floor between the seat and the storage compartment. Easier access if you remove the compartment lid.

the release cable has broke ,take the seat out and have a play to work out whats wrong ,you may be able to repair it with a bicycle brake cable
