To simply answer the question, yes, having your windows/sunroof open
reduces your vehicles overall speed due to drag that's not factored
into wind tunnel testing when it's designed.
If your vehicle is detecting a slip condition, your shifting too high
or low, causing clutch slip as opposed to a solid engagement. This
occurs in any vehicle with a clutch; you need to shift precisely.
Margin of error on a shift point is not a few hundred RPM's, it's less
than 100.

go to a junk yard where you can pull your own parts find a camry that is around your same year rip the headliner out and pull the complete sunroof asembly. make sure you get the wiring harness with it. Then put that in your car (will take a lot longer to put it in your car because you will have to be careful with the headliner and intereor parts. It shouldnt take you longer than about 4 hours to take out the old one and put the new one in assuming that you are mechanically inclined. this will be the most cost effective way to fix it. if you have any questions feal free to e-mail me at [email protected]. Remove the sunroof complete, clean all items of this system, incl. the sliders in your Jeeps roof. You need to remove the roof trim at first. Then you can remove the sunroof. Check all items if rusted or cracked, if so replace them. That's the only way to go.
