Hi Beam don't stay on VW Beetle 2002

Hi Everyone, I have a VW New Beetle 2002 and replaced with new the Indicator/High Beam Stalk Switch as the old one was faulty and didn't lock in when pushed back for high beam light and hi beam lights didn't work. Now high beam lights only flash when switch pulled forward but nothing happens when pushed back for hi-beam lights to stay permanently on? Is it a relay or something else? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Steve

It's the turn signal switch that is faulty.

    Thanks Randy.
The switch is brand new and original VW part but I'll pull the switch out today and check it.

    Sorted, thanks Randy.
It was actually the 434 relay which is used as a latching relay to keep the hi beam on and used on RHD Beetles that was not in the right spot, so moved it and everything works perfectly. Cheers, Steve

Try this: Unplug the connector from the bulbs to the relays and flip the connector over and plug it back into the relay. It will plug in both ways, but only one way is correct and will work both hi and lo beams.

New Beetle 2002 Hi-Beam lights only flash, don't stay on, what can I do?

I would test the relay to make sure it is still good and everything there is working like it is supposed to. I would also look at the switch and make sure noting came unplugged and it is still in good working order sometimes new parts are still bad.

I have a 1998 vw beetle the passenger side turn signal is constantly flashing on front and back anyone have any idea what is the cause of this problem

Hi. This can be one of 2 things. First and most common is the indicator stalk. 2nd is the hazard switch itself.

My vw 2002 beetle headlight bulb has been replaced and still wont work?

I believe vw uses 4 fuses 2 high beam, 2 low beam, see if high beams work, check for a blown fuse. Another possibility is a corroded wiring harness that plugs in behind the headlight. Unplug and replug the headlight socket a couple times to clean corrosion.

The low beam lights do not work I have tried a new bulb and replacing the fuses. the high beam lights do work

You may have to check a few items here. Do the high beam lights only work when you "flash" from the combination stalk or do they work when you have headlight switch turned on and then select high beam from stalk..? You may also want to check out the headlight relay. If this is OK, you might have a headlight switch issue or the combination stalk may be faulty.

A problem with the indicator light. When I turn on

Check your bulbs first. Make sure they all work. If the bulbs are all good replace the turn signal flasher and your problem is fixed.
