or is the the fan belt.
the G16 does have belt and we have posted 3 books covering it here.
cam belt, g16= 1.6L,or 1600cc engine. different to max this.
Well, During this time when you replaced the cam sensor and stuff did you check to see if the timing belt was still intact? Do a compression check to see if you've lost compression on any cylinders. If the timing belt broke this will be the case. Chrysler typically has a plastic cover that goes over the cam pulley end of the timing belt that can be removed, it also has a check hole, to check the timing belt as well.
You'll need to remove the timing belt and get back in to the engine. Be certain to get No. 1 cylinder to TDH , top dead cylinder, look for your cam timing marks, be certain these are dead on when installing thge belt. Start at the crank and wrap the belt to the first cam being certain there is no slack in it, be certain all of the slack is taken up by the tensioner. After it is in place rotate by hand the engine and be certain it hold its timing. I'll admit I usually ask for a second set of hand to help hold the belt or cams in position.
I hope this may have helped,
Tom
If you are turning your crank and the belt doesn't turn then I would check your cams and gears on them. check the belt for lost teeth and make sure that your cams and crank are good before spending the time and money into just replaceing the belt you may have bigger problems if the cams and crank don't respond.
befor replacing cam belt or chains puo two valvse on no 1 cylind to the closed with the cam lobes facing away from the valves replace belt make sure rotor arm pointing at no 1 ht lead then timing is set
You need to find the timing marks on both crank and cam pulleys, set it, then take of the belt ane dont let any pulley move! Put on new belt and set the tension of the belt.
First, check the ECM fuse in the power control module (it will be a yellow 20 amp fuse). Second, check the timing belt. You can pull out the cam sensor and look in the hole while someone cranks the motor. If the cam gear is not turning, the timing belt is broken. VERY IMPORTANT - when replacing the cam sensor, get a special adhesive pad from a Chrysler dealer that attaches to the bottom of the sensor to set the proper gap (cost about $2). Install the cam sensor until the pad touches the gear and tighten down the locking bolt. The pad will wear off in normal running. If the gap is not set correctly using this gapping pad, you won't start.
