I unhooked the battery on the 2001 xl7 now it will not idle to stay running

the fuse box in cab is easy to find
as is the engine bay main fuse box. (larger fuses)
there is no idle fuse.

check the fuses, best is if they look weird measure them with a battery powered test lamp or with any DMM ohm meter for conductivity.
some fuses look good but are cracked (hair line)
if they look blown, they are, of course.

Car won't start the first time, batteri low voltage so after many tries ,finally it starts

well you ve to use a voltmeter check the battery before it stars and then while idling while idling volts must be about 13v or so. if you got your 13 while idling just replace your battery, if you got less then 12v while idling your problem is the alternator. if you got good volts at any time, motor off or idling your problem is your starter...

I would tell you to stop guessing and throwing parts on that you dont need. First have it scanned and see if there are any trouble codes. you need to replace the ALL the spark plugs, Use only Motorcraft or Autolite platinum spark plugs gapped properly. . Be careful as coils are a common weak item , and are about $95 each. the Idle Air Control (IAC) solenoids are common to go bad also (controls idle speed)

I changed the battery and now it will not idle

You need to take the car to a computer specialist. My idle did not idle correctly after replacing the alternator and battery. It was a simple computer reset on the idling.

Had the battery replaced and now the engine idles at 300 rpms.

try disconnecting the battery for about 15 minutes, sometimes this will clear false codes. Reconnect battery and let it idle for a few min. Some cars have to recognize how a car is driven and idled for a certain amount of time. This info is then stored into the (brain) of the car. It may just have your signal from the throttle position sensor messed up and hopefully this will work.

TH Magna stalling in idle after battery replacement

Hi - what was the solution??

Ive just had exactly this problem. Got new battery today then no idle. The car starts fine and runs for abourt 1 second then instantly dies. Its fine if you keep your foot on the throttle. Unfortunately if you are going downhill as soon as you place your foot on the brake the engine dies and the steering fails - then the brakes!!!

I seem to remember having idle problems the last time I replaced the battery. but not as severe.

Any how I got home after nearly crashing with starting the engine 20 times. Then with the engine off I pressed the throttle right to the floor and released.- and then restarted. That seemed to work for some reason ??? The Idle is now 100% ok although still a bit rough. But at least does't stall.
I cant see why doing anything to the throttle pedal/cable should affect the idle to be killed.?? even if the cable snapped it should still idle.
NB about 10% of the starts the idle actually idled ok for a few minutes before failing again

Any thoughts greatfully received

I now darent go out!!

paul

Misubishi service had no idea- said bring it in!!

Replaced the battery in 2002 camry now it won't idle

When you replace battery in 2002 Camry ECM tries to reset to factory levels. The reason it will not idle is that the throttle body is dirty and ECM thinks it should be new!! Clean throttle body with cleaner that is safe for tbs and this will fix your idle problem.

THE HIGH LOW IDLE MAY BE A SIGN OF A LOW COOLANT LEVEL.THE IDLE CIRCUIT IS CONTROLED BY ENGINE TEMP.AS FAR AS THE BATTERY.THE STARTER MAY BE DRAWING TO MANY AMPS.THERE MAY BE A DRAIN ON THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM W/THE KEY OUT.
