Question about 2009 Chrysler Town and Country

I have a 2001 town and country. yesterday i went to put it into park and it sounded like a clunk. Like it shifted really hard and now my transmission is stuck in 2nd gear. I took the negative batterey cable off ad reset the computer and the engine light turned off and i tookk it for a drive. it shifted fine at first but when I got up to about 45 miles per hours it downshifted to 2nd and got stuck again. could that bee the speed sensor not cousing it to shift

This is called the limp mode. It means that you have a transmission problem. It goes into limp mode to protect the transmission from total failure. You need to take it to a transmission shop to perform a diagnosic test to see if it needs repair or replace

output speed sensor is the same thing. Sending a picture. It unscrews. Look straight down between the radiator and transmission.

Why is it so hard to shift it out of park


Set your parking brake before you put it in park. Weight on the parking pawl in your transmission can make it difficult to shift out of park.

When I shift into drive my speedometer jumps up to 20 mph


check all your fuses. if you boosted it before changing starter there is a chance u blew a fuse. I would disconect battery and wait 60seconds then re attach to reset the computer

Can't shift my 1995 Mazda MVP out of park and the wheel is not locked and the key will not come out.

Yesterday went to town put my 2001 mercury sable in park and could not get it back in gear, after fighting with it for several mins. It went in gear, went to save alot did the same thing, turned ignition...


Brake Shift interlock system problem probably . This is a safety system that will not let you move the gear selector from park ,unless your foot is pressing on the brake pedal . Electrically controlled locking solenoid , wiring , brake switch used to control this .

96 town and country wont turn over and shift indicator does not show park


It sounds as if your shift cable is out of adjustment. If you remove the air filter box and the hose at the throttle body you will be able to access the transmission shift lever, on top of the ******.Loosen the cable adjusting screw that is on the lever. Pull the lever all the way to its detent position which is Park. Release the parking brake and rock the vehicle to assure that it is in Park lock. Reset parking brake. In the cab, place the Shift lever in the Park position, return under the hood and tighten the cable adjusting screw. Your van will only start when the transmission is in Park or Neutral. 1997 Chrysler Town and Country Transmission clunks with downshift


Check the universal joints in the drive shaft to rear axel. 120,000 miles, its time for replacement. Safety hazard exist, check soon. Also transmission filter should have been serviced at 60,000 miles. Its time.
