How is it possible that you dont know what size is the engine in your car. ..... unbelievable.
What type of engine do you have, petrol or diesel, or dont you know that either
If its not beyond you, open the bonnet and you will see the engine, if its a petrol engine, then its a V8 and will have it embossed on the air intake what size the engine is. If its a diesel engine then it will be a 2,5L turbo TD5. GOOD LUCK
Click the large item that says "DOWLOAD LINK". That will give you a 570 megabyte ZIP file containing the official Land Rover service manual. It's free.
When downloaded, extracting the files, leave all files in the "rave" folder. Go to the "pdf" directory, go to "library", click on "libld", that's the Defender manual.
You can find the Electrical Manual from there. Best of luck,
Hi ,
Not easy this one, when your turbo failed the oil feed to the turbo bearings continued to feed engine oil into the intake side(could not turn off),the engine is then Un-governed and free to rev way above maximum limit,it has then massively over heated, the oil treatments are unlikely to cause this problem ,usually down to not letting the Turbo "wind down " after driving,The best course of action is to replace the engine and turbo charger and have the induction pipes and intercooler properly cleaned ,there are no cheap fixes for this you were just unlucky.
Your 20 amp fuse will not blow if glowplug wire shorts. each plug draws 15 amps which is 120 amps total.I think there are in line fuses for them. Try to wring out where each output from the fuse goes, disconnect all and reconnect one at a time till it blows. That should point to your problem process of illumination! Good Luck!!
I don't wish to worry you but I think the turbo kicks in at around 2500rpm and it sounds like it isn't doing so, hence the management light coming on. It could be that failing. Be careful here, apparently the turbo uses the engine oil to maintain its operating temperature and if the turbo seals fail in anyway it eats the engine oil, with the resulting total failure of the power unit. So if you do nothing else, keep an eye on the engine oil level. (You may also notice oil smoke out the exhaust as well).
Unfortunately it looks like a trip to the dealer for them to check what the engine management is saying.
Check the breather filter, a quick test is pull the oil dipstick and rev engine if oil rises up dipstick replace breather filter straight away as it will blow engine if not
engine dies out frequently on my 2l diesel rover 75
