Re: How to change a ignition switch on a 2005 Nissan...
Best way is to have a locksmith come to your place and remove/replace the barrel of the switch
Take it to a shop they will charge the same and probably will get in a locksmith to do the job.

It may be a break in the wiring harness that goes from the drivers door switches through from the door to the door pillar. If they break in the harness through stress, nothing works. You need a good auto electrician with a test meter and the ability to read wiring diagrams. If the panel is off, the hardest work is done.
The ignition housing contains the transponder receiver that picks up the signal given off by the security chip in the key. You can't just remove parts of the security system and immobilizer. It is a complicated system of two computer modules and various sensors. You need a mobile auto electrician.
This is the question from earlier that I answered. It is 'where' not 'We're' (we are), and 'reset' not 'rest. Corrected.
You never mentioned you replaced the fuel pump, so presumably you disconnected the battery?
You need to reset the security system and immobilizer because you disconnected the battery and lost the pairing between the chip in the key and the transponder.
Ha this used to happen to me with my sunfire. Just wiggle the steering wheel while trying to wiggle the key out. Sometimes the steering wheel locks up and then keys will get stuck in ignition. Hope this helps.
Change the starter. The starter has a gear that moves forward, meshes with the flywheel, and cranks the engine over. From what you describe, the gear is spinning, but not advancing on it's shaft to mesh with the flywheel.
