Lifter* and Cherokee*
The lifters are an internal component and cannot be "adjusted" furthermore, a 2011 Jeep V6 engine is a variable valve timed engine and has NO LIFTERS. valve lash cannot be adjusted, and the cam shafts cannot be adjusted.

LIFT ONLY THE VALVE COVERS AND CHECK IF THE LIFTERS ARE TIGHT, IF THERE IS TOO MUCH PLAY ON ONE LIFTER, YOU MAY HAVE A BENT VALVE.

I blew a head gasket 91 silverado fixed it with a sealer had to adjust 2 lifters but it still acts like it not fireing on a couple cyc.

now how would any one at fixya site know if some body fix the engine properly
WELL no we don't
but we do know that you method of fixing is a failure as short cuts seldom work
Pull the head , have it machined flat , fit new head gasket , use all new head studs and replace any other bolts that are suspect
That will be well on the way to doing the job properly

Just picked up my heads for my 2003 cadillac 3.2 v6 eng.

The lifters should be hydraulic and the lash is probably not adjustable. Follow the directions as given in a HAYNES or Chilton Repair manual for reassembly of the heads. And you should be fine. These manuals are available for most any vehicle at any local parts store for about $25 plus tax.

3400 v6 rods and lifters

Unless something was very worn, my first thought is the lifters had lost all oil pressure. The lifters are hydraulic and should maintain pressure to keep the rockers tight.

How to fix the ticking/knocking noise in 97 v6 magna?

the ticking noise usually points to a lifter or lifters sticking, they bleed down when sitting for a while.
some times an oil flush might do the trick , or change the lifters?
good luck

Do you have to reset the valves after heads been shaved

Well the valves need to be adjusted . This must be a 2.9 V6 or a 2.0 4 . Let me know witch and i can give you the order it needs to be done in and what else was done to the heads when it was rebuilt . You could have other problems like valve springs lifters or bent push rods

No compression in #5 cylinder V6 SOHC?

Sounds like a blown head gasket, bad valves or bad rings. If this is the only cylinder affected then the head gasket is more than likely the problem.

1997 jeep grand cherokee laredo replace collapsed lifter 4.0l il6

What motor do you have? The V8, you can remove just the intake manifold and the valve covers/rocker arms to remove the lifter. The V6, I believe you need to remove the head to access the lifters.
