First off do the headlamps work ,are they bright ? Do all the dash lights come on when you turn the key on ? Check engine , ABS , Air bag etc.. an do they go off after a few seconds ? How about the Security light , your vehicle has an anti- theft system ! Now then , does the engine crank over ! When you turn the key to the start position does it do anything ? Anti-theft system disables the fuel system if anti-theft problem ! Some people disconnect the battery to reset the computer , but what computer is causing the problem ? your vehicle has at least 10 control modules .

Engine indicator displayed on the instrument panel after jump start. I will not go of yet the cae is running ok. Al so we have no reversing lights.

Jump starting the car is very similar to replacing the battery.
It is very possible that when the voltage went very low trying to start the car the adapted settings by the car computer have been reset to default. You will need to re learn the settings. It is a common problem. This will usually light the check engine light. The following link helps to explain the situation.
Disconnect or Replacement Problems

An OBDII scan tool connected to the car can reset the computer. It will rake at least 8 miles of driving to reset the idle air home position. Idle and staling should be expected during the adapting of the engine system to the new idle. Avoid until after warm-up depressing the throttle pedal allow the engine management system to relearn the idle position.

If no OBDII tool available then disconnecting the battery and after a minute or so reconnect will usually reset the computer for this problem, If an auto parts store in near they will usually provide a complementary check and reset,

Saturn ion 2006 shuts off immediately after starting

This sounds like a reset problem. Possibly the ignition interlock ( Just another word for Factory reset code needed for your computer.) Usually the little padlock symbol will be on in dash. Removal of the battery could and usually will fool the computer into thinking the car is being hot wired into starting.

I am replacing my car computer I like to know how to reset the new computer

Before you start, make sure your negative battery cable is disconnected. Once the new computer is installed, reconnect the battery cable. Since the "new" computer isn't connected to a power source, everything in its memory should already be reset, and it will be ready to go.

We have a 1999 dodge durango which after changing the oxygen 1 sensor it started running rough what could have happened?

you have to reset the computer either with a scan tool or take the ground cable off the battery for 30 seconds this will reset your computer anytime you replace a sensor you have to reset the computer or it will reconize the new part.So it will run like it did before you replaced it.

New battery but still acts dead - Does computer need to be reset?

do not suspect computer.
1 the new battery may not have been charged from the store so would need to be charged before use, charge new battery on a charging set and see if this resoves the problem. *or use slave leads and start from a second vehicle)
2 your alternator may not be charging the battery so after a while it will just die. use a volt meter and check that volage is increaseing to your battery when the engine is running.
if not suspect alterantor defective and may need replacement.

Car won't start after changing battery

Sounds like your theft system. You can reset it by leaving the key in the on postion for 15-20 minutes. IF this doesn't work, you may need to visit the dealership.

1994 explorer - engine light stays on

if the egr was just replaced ad that was the problem the computer wont recognize the new part until you reset the computer. to reset the computer take the positive cable from the car off the battery and give it 3-5min to discharge then touch the positive cable from the car to the negative cable (still attached to the battery) for about 5 seconds and then hook back up the positive post and that will reset the computer. this will take the light off and it will stay off if the problem was fixed the the egr. this is a good place to start.
