SOURCE: 2000 gmc jimmy wont start fuel pump comes on and cuts off...

When you hook the pressure test guage to shrader valve on fuel rail what it reads is what the pressure is from pump, around 60 p.s.i. all you need to do is hook up the guage and turn on key, you do not have to turn engine over, and if pump is good it will shoot up to 58 or 60 right now.

the fuel pressure if leaking could cause this the regulator is located under the intake plenum but you should smell gas .if you dont then most likely the pump is bad ,the pump will come on for 2 seconds when the key is on then go off it will not stay on with just the key on only when you crank it will it .so have your fuel pressure checked with a gauge.

SOURCE: fuel pressure regulator had no vacuum line connected

another engineers wet dream. think of it this way . what is normally in the intake when the engine is running.. answer vacume, hence the regulator gets its vacume without a hose connected to it as its already in a full time vacume chamber.no hose required . ps be carefull to seat the regulator and o rings securely into the housing befor you reattach the secureing metal clip.
good luck chris

SOURCE: how to replace fuel pressure regulating valve

1991-94 Models - REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Remove the air intake tube and resonator assembly.
  2. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  3. Remove the bolts from the fuel line clip.
  4. Using a 15 / 16 in. (24mm) backup wrench to prevent damage to the inlet port and bracket, disconnect the fuel inlet and return lines from the pressure regulator/fuel rail assembly.
If difficulty is encountered accessing the fuel return line nut, loosen and/or remove the fuel supply and rail attachment fasteners.
  1. Disengage the fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose.

  1. Remove the regulator assembly attaching screw, then remove the regulator assembly. Plug the regulator port in the fuel rail with a clean rag to prevent system contamination.

  1. Do not remove the O-ring from the retainer in the pressure regulator fuel outlet, unless it is damaged and requires replacing. Always remove and discard the O-ring from the fuel inlet.
To install:
  1. Lubricate the new fuel inlet O-ring and, if necessary, the new outlet O-ring with clean engine oil, then install the O-ring(s) in the pressure regulator assembly.
  2. Position the regulator assembly to the fuel rail. Coat the threads of the attaching bolt with Loctite® 242 or an equivalent threadlock, then install the bolt and tighten to 106 inch lbs. (12 Nm).
  3. Connect the fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose.
  4. Connect the fuel inlet and return lines, then tighten the lines to 133 inch lbs. (15 Nm) using a backup wrench to prevent port damage.
  5. Cycle the ignition switch to prime the fuel system, then start the engine and check for fuel leaks.
  6. Turn the ignition OFF and install the air intake tube and resonator assembly.

Hope this helps (remember to rate and comment this answer).

Where is the fuel pressure regulator located on a 2014 Chevrolet Impala 4 cylinder

The 2014 Chevrolet Malibu with the L4-2.5L engine does not have a 'typical' fuel pressure regulator. This vehicle has a fuel regulator valve (same function, just 'smarter' than a regulator). The pressure relief regulator valve replaces the typical fuel pressure regulator used on a mechanical returnless fuel system. Output drivers in the ECM provide the pump control circuit with a 12?V pulse-width modulated (PWM) signal, which regulates fuel pressure by closing and opening the control valve at specific times during pump strokes. On this vehicle, the regulator valve is built into and part of the high-pressure fuel pump. The high-pressure fuel pump is located on the rear, driver's side of the engine. For an image location view, click here: https://bit.ly/3mgrSAv. Before replacement, make sure to inspect the electrical connector and wire harness for any loose, broken or damaged wires. And the rubber lines for any cracks, holes or disconnections

I'm trying to change the fuel pressure regulater valve on my 2004cts cadilac.I checked the fuel rail not there. Someone told me It is on top the gas tank. Please help me locate it.

What engine does yours have ? 3.6 L engine the regulator is inside the fuel tank !
2.6 an 3.2L is on the fuel rail !
5.7L inside fuel tank !
The fuel pressure regulator attaches to the fuel return pipe on the fuel sender assembly. The fuel pressure regulator is a diaphragm-operated relief valve. A software bias compensates the injector on-time because the fuel pressure regulator is not referenced to manifold vacuum. The injector pulse width varies with the signal from the mass air flow (MAF)/intake air temperature (IAT) sensor.
With the engine running at idle, the system fuel pressure at the pressure test connection should be between 380-410 kPa (55-60 psi). With the system pressurized and the pump OFF the pressure should stabilize and hold. If the pressure regulator supplies a fuel pressure which is too low or too high, a driveability condition will result.
You would have to change The modular fuel pump sender assembly !
Now what makes you think you need to have it changed ?

How do I check the fuel pressure on a 2000 model mazda millenia with a 2.3 engine in it

Hi.

You connect a fuel pressure gauge like this to the pressure rail. Pressure in this car must be between 35 and 45 psi. If pressure is too low look for kinked fuel lines and eventually replace the pump. If the pressure drops down more than 10 psi in five minutes or if the pressure is considerably higher than that replace the fuel pressure regulator. Below the parts that may need testing:

ginko_261.gif

1. Fuel tank
2. Shut-off valve
3. Non-return valve
4. Fuel pump
5. Fuel pump (Transfer)
6. Fuel filter (High-pressure)
7. Injector
8. Pressure regulator
9. PRC solenoid valve
10. Fuel pump relay
11. Fuel pump resistor and relay (KJ model)

The hot air from your aircon usually has nothing to do with freon. I'm not sure about your particular car but usually there is a 3/4 inch valve near the rear of the engine to regulate hot water flow to the heater radiator under the dash. This valve can sometimes seize up. If it is a vacuum controlled valve, check that the vacuum lines are connected and not split.
