SOURCE: locating heater blower motor resistor

the resistor is behind your glove box. open the box and push in the sides to release it and let it hang down...the resistor is right there. I didn't try to replace it, a friend did it, but the part was under $20.

SOURCE: 2002 dodge grand caravan heater blower only works on high spped

If you are looking for the fan blower resistor, it is located behind the glove box. No tools need to get to it and a nut driver to remove the 2 screws to replace it. A 20$ part.

SOURCE: Replacing Blower Motor Resistor

  1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
  2. Open the glove box.
  3. Flex both sides of the glove box bin inward near the top far enough for the rubber glove box stop bumpers to clear the sides of the glove box opening, then roll the glove box downward.
  4. Reach through the glove box opening to access and disconnect the instrument panel wire harness connector for the blower motor resistor from the resistor connector receptacle (Blower Motor Resistor).
  5. Reach through the glove box opening to access and disconnect the blower motor pigtail wire connector from the resistor connector receptacle.
  6. Remove the two screws that secure the blower motor resistor to the evaporator housing.
  7. Remove the blower motor resistor from the evaporator housing.80ac4e54.gif

SOURCE: my 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan blower keeps on

It is pretty much impossible for the blower resistor to be causing the blower to keep running. The blower relay, on the other hand, is very likely to cause your problem. The contacts on the relay can stick and provide power to the motor when it is not wanted. It is located in the "Integrated Power Module" (Fuse and Relay box) located on the drivers side fender area in the engine compartment. There should be a diagram on the inside of the box cover to show you which one it is.

2002 grand caravan blower motor intermittent replaced resistor

in review
the fan speed resistor is new
you bench tested the blower motor
12 volts test ..only runs it at full speed
if cabin filer want changed the blower motor would run hotter

could be the motor brushes or bush/motor bearing when slowed
you might want to inspect the brushes and clean the dust out of the motor
if no better
does that have climate control ?
might be the fan switch itself or the earth isnt so good

Heater fan quit working. What would cause this?

You need a new blower motor resistor. shoud be under the dashboard on the passenger side around or behind the glovebox and should plug directly into the blower motor. Go to the parts store and buy one. Nothing else will look anything like it. so when you see it you will know what to replace.

Need to change fan motor control switch? Only works on high setting.

this problem is not caused by the switch, it is caused by a defective blower motor speed control resistor, the resistor is located near the blower motor.

I have a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan. Recently the front blower fan began to work intermittently. Sometimes it would work only on high, sometimes any speed, sometimes only when the rear blower was off. Now...

I think your headed in the right direction. At the front blower motor, the black wire is voltage and the dark green wire ground. As you can see the thermal fuse and resisters are on the ground circuit for blower motor , the speed controls are also on the ground circuit. Any motor that uses brushes, sometimes you can tap on the blower housing and it starts running, or driving down the road and you hit a bump and it takes off. Your jumper wires should have worked, in my opinion. If you wired it up backwards, I don't know if blower motor would run backwards, I never tried it. In the past, with faulty blower motors, I took it apart and looked at the brushes, wore down to the nub.

Blower motor resistor overheats and fried connector to blower motor on 2001 Grand Caravan. Replaced resistor once new one fried connection. Saw review online that the resistor diode may be the culprit....

You should be replacing the blower motor with the resistors. If your buying the parts from the dealer an experienced parts person will insist you replace both at the same time. The blower motor is usually what burns out the resistors.

The heater and a/c in my 2003 grand prix will on

Your blower motor resistor is the problem.
The blower motor resistor is located near the blower motor on the passenger side in the heater case. The resistor is held in by two screws and has one electrical connector that plugs into it. Purchase the resistor and you will know exactly what you are replacing. Good luck

A/c

Dodge has a known problem with the Blower motor resistor's shorting/failing and burning up wires or connectors. This is most likely the cause and would require replacement. One way to tell is to disconnect the electrical connector on the blower motor and look at the wires/connector. If it's blackened or melted in any way you will need to replace the resistor pack. I would not suspect the blower motor as it is working in high speed.
