Check the vacuum lines first. Make sure the air duct is secure to the throttle body. Check the EGR system. All of these are vacuum leaks. Will cause rich burns. After that check codes. Cold be MAF, MAP, O2 sensors. Could also be the injectors stuck open. They would need cleaned or replaced.

SOURCE: My 2000 monte carlo ss with a 3800 engine tends to

I believe the codes are emmission related. I would have the fuel pump pressure checked. The fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator seems to be the failrue. The restarting of the engine several times is making the system build up enough pressure to start running . I would take to a shop to have the fuel pressure checked.

Just because you cant feel in doesn't mean it isn't slipping. The computer monitors input rotation speed and output rotation speed of the transmission. If the output isn't within a certain range the computer stores this code. The only reason for this is transmission slipping and will require a rebuild.

SOURCE: wont keep idle, car stalls out

I had this same problem on my 2005 monte carlo, took mechanic a while to figure out it was the idle air control valve. They also replace the idle air control motor.

I was driving my 1996 monte carlo and the red oil light came on. it sputterd for a min then stalled and wont stay runnin for more then 2 to 3 sec, do you think its the oil pump?

check the oil level, then the oil filter and change the oil. if light is still on replace the oil pump. also check the old engine oil for small pieces of metal in case the engine spun a bearing if you see and dont start the engine for risk of further damage.
