I'm no expert when it comes to your vehicle. However it sounds to me as though there may be a vacuum leak somewhere causing the HVAC door that controls the AC/heat to be faulting to the 'hot' side.

Drive the car up to 55 MPH with the AC on. Making sure there is no vehicles close behind you, completely let off the gas pedal and see if it starts blowing cold air right after letting off the throttle. If it blows cold, then it's probably a vacuum leak.

If it doesn't blow cold then it could simply be low on freon or a partially clogged filter in the AC line.

Hope this helps.

Find the vacuum ball. It is cracked or been disconnected.

Have the system tested for proper operating pressure. If pressure ok, I would suspect a vacuum issue to one of the blend doors in the heating/ac box assembly. Possible vacuum motor to blend door/vacuum check valve etc

SOURCE: air only blows hot on 96 lincoln

Sounds like the heater and a/c blend door actuator. It is located under front center of dash below windshield. Dash must be removed to replace it. I've done it several times.

SOURCE: my Ac only blows cold

check to see if your a/c cooling fan(in front of car, behind grille) is working. also check freon levels, it might be low at idle speeds, but increase with engine rpm increase.

The AC is working an blowing but the heating is also blowing at the same time. What can fix this problem? It is 1998 Lincoln Continental Town Car.

Could be the vacuum motor blend door problem where the plastic door inside the dashboard is not properly being angled to direct cold air and to block hot air from coming into the cabin.

AC runs cold, then hot, then cold

this sounds like a defective air temperature control sensor, it is located behind the glove box, problem is the part is most likely no longer availiable from Ford..
