The nissan z24 has a chain guard on either side of the chain
facing the chain the guide on the left is the chain guide and the one on the right is a guide as well it is a straight guide and when fitted should protrude slightly above the block face
it is held on the block by 2 bolts
there is also a small guide separate and above the adjuster bolted with one bolt in the head
the chain tensioner is below the lh guide and the bolts are tensioned to 53-89 inch pounds

The guide on the left side has a slotted hole at the top push it all the way in towards the chain and tighten down, but you may have something worn like a tensioner, or guides or the chain may be stretched.

My partners 2009 Nissan Navara wont start. It makes a clicking sound but just wont start. It also has recently started overheating. The car does have alot of km's 399,000km's.

If the battery is OK the next thing to check is the starter motor itself. It usually shows as a single click or lots of fast clicks?
For the overheating, how long after you start the engine does it start to overheat? If it takes a while, usually as the engine starts to get up to working temperature, the first thing to check is the thermostat. This is the most common thing to fail especially on higher mileage engines. Do this first as it's the cheapest fix.
Next check the serpentine/Auxillary belt. A worn or damaged belt can slip slowing the pump down. This can also show as battery charging issues.
Another cause of overheating is the waterpump failing. This can commonly be heard as a whine, chirp, or a squealing noise especially on a cold start. It can also often, but not always, be see below the pump as staining from it leaking.

Hey,, my nissan 2003 hardbody 2.4 16v has a NOISE on the ENGINE that i don't know what it is ..some say itSs the timing chain and others say it's the lifters.HELP please before i loose the ENGINE.

NO control told or miles on engine (KM) odometer.
what is a hardbody, a Pickup , not in USA are you? no country told

SO YOU POST TO THE BLIND AND DEAF THIS.?
why not ask a live hands on service tech to check it out and not blow up a still good engine, why NOT?

yes the pickup truck hardbody means double wall bed.
my guess engine is 2.4L 4-cylinder KA24E
a specific engine that.
KA24DE 2003.
the DOHC<? twin cam is buckets over valves cam direct via CHAIN those are bucket lifters only, and only make noise if it sucks a valve.
ever, oKay
the chains can fail 200k miles, or KM equiv.
if you allow most DOHC chains or belts to fail the engine valves are bent over and worse.
so learn to get that checked out and not ask the deaf ever.
do not delay , IMO ID not drive, it at all , or go to the mech shop now. no delays.

Nissan z24 engine just did head gasket replaced timing chain and guides started on oil pressure pulled off new oil filter no oil primed pump on bench before installing can you help

os there something in the repair manual
about the Z24 oil pump cam being in alignment

Remove the distributor by removing the two mounting bolts to the timing cover. This will keep your ignition timing intact. Fit the oil pump and drive spindle together and install so that when you look down on top of them the spindle is aligned like below.

A drawn out squirmy noise in the head only when you rev

Is there a chain drive to overhead cams? If so, maybe the tensioner, chain or gears are bad.

During a cold start, I have a noisy rattle coming front the front of the engine on the low down side. This continues for about 10 seconds then quiets down. Any ideas? 1997 Nissan pu, 4 cylinder.

Sounds like a timing chain issue, eventually the tensioner builds enough pressure to quiet it. Also check all chain guides, they get damaged with chain noise like what you describe.
