SOURCE: RADIATOR DRAIN PLUG

I was able to reach up there with a small 1/4" socket driver and a small extension. Not easy, you will probably make a bit of a mess. Takes a little patience. I also suggest flushing the whole coolant system and putting in the green coolant.

SOURCE: fuel pump

Fuel Pump on this Vehicle is on the inside of the gas tank it is a not so hard job to do if you have done quite a bit of mechanical work, but if not you best get someone who does have the experience since we are talking with dealing directly with the tank that even when empty it can explode with a spark from a tool striking ant metal.

But if You are that person that knows how to tinker with automobiles I Strongly suggest to go to your local auto parts store and get the book in order to follow the instructions safely, trust me I have done 2 chevy astros and a thunderbird. Good Luck.

Timing chain replacement 1991 jimmy s-15

radiator should be drained but if you can't find petcock remove lower hose at the radiator. There is a bracket on top with around 5 to 8 screws. Then lift off bracket. Take the upper hose loose at the radiator to let the rest of the coolant out. the overflow reservoir has a small clamp to remove as well. If this is an automatic with coolant lines take them off from the bottom. Sometimes they are rusty so do small part turns to break loose. You don 't want to replace these
because they are hard to get at. A catch bin of 2 gallons should be enough to catch the coolant. It is poison but dogs and cats like the sweet taste. During reassembly keep in mind that there are rubber mounts on most of these usually 4 used as a shock mount.

My 1989 GMC S15 is leaking antifreeze from the bottom, I found a trail of it on the street. What can it be?

I would first check the Radiator hoses, and the Radiator to make sure they are not damaged, loosened, cracked, etc.

If the leak is coming from the engine, you may have a leaking water pump, or another damaged hose, or cracked block.

I want to flush the radiator on my 2001 gmc jimmy. Is the radiator draincock covered by a plastic shielding? Also does the draincock have an O-ring that would need to be replaced? Thanks. Ian v.

there should be a drain **** on either side of the lower radiator. you might have to remove the splash guard to get to it easier, If it is not leaking then the o ring does not need replaced when you drain, the drain plug does not have to be removed all the way, it has a drain hole on it when the plug is loosened to a certain point it will allow to drain. If you remove all the way then go ahead and inspect o ring and replace before installing again. but always lube an old or new rubber o ring with (oil) before installing. Installing a dry rubber o ring will result in possible failure.

How to replace the radiator drain petcock on a 89 k2500

There common to break off, you can pick up the replacement drain plug at NAPA and buy a stud retracter to remove the drain plug. if the plug is not leaking, Leave it alone and to drain the radiator, just disconnect the lower radiator hose on the opposite side of the radiator.

Good luck and hope this helps you on your project.
