Sound to like the door is out of alignment . It might have been closed hard on something while something was blocking the door. a mechanic need to adjust the level of the door or level the hinges and it should close properly.

Passenger Sliding Door Won't latch close on 2001 Chrysler Town and Country Van AWD

you will need to remove the fuse for the power side doors and back. Disconnect the battery to reset the ECU and the doors should open and close manually just fine. There is a safety release on the gas filler port to prevent the door on that side from opening with the port is opened. Make sure the fuel filler cap door works properly, if the sliding door on that side is the one that won't open.

Driver side sliding door on 04 freestar van non power wont open after opening and closing the fuel door

There is obviously a switch on the fuel door that prevents the sliding door from operating while the fuel door is open. Look for that switch and spray some electrical cleaner (or even "Brake Kleen" from an auto parts store). Both evaporate quickly without leaving residue. The switch is probably "gunky."

It seems like the sliding door, which is manuel on the passenger side opens and closes real rough, like th bearings are freezing up. this is a 2000 Grand caravan sport. What do I do?

Vacuum out the lower track where the door connects to the bottom of the van, the upper track at the top and the track below the back window. Check all the tracks for any objects that shouldn't be there like rocks, leaves etc. Once clean, apply Lithium Grease to all three tracks (can be found in the automotive section). Open and close the door several times and then reapply grease. If it continues to be difficult to open and close, the door may not be riding in one of the tracks properly.

I have recently had to open my 93 Grande Jeep Cherokee passenger side door from the inside. I was investigating it to see if the mechanism that holds the door shut needed to be oiled and I flipped it down...

To re-align the catch to allow the door to close...be sure to pull the inside door release first...also check the mechanism on your drivers door...this should help you see it is re-aligned for proper closing...Hope this helps.

The sliding door does not function properly. It automatically closes but sometimes it goes back to an open position.

If you put the van in drive before the door slides fully shut, it will open again. I have a dodge van, and it does the same thing. Crazy design!

I have a 1998 windstar gl and my sliding door will not open. nor will it close all the way. wont budge, and is ajar

It sounds like the latch may not have opened all the way last time you opened it and then when you tried to close it, the latch jammed on the pin.

I would get inside the van and try to force the sliding door open at the rear where it swings out on the rails. The latch is going to have to be jarred loose.

If you get it open, check and make sure the "fingers" on the latch are completely opened before closing it again, and give them some lubrication.
