This could be a bad connection. First step is to clean your battery connections, then work your way through the wiring. Common places are the starter connections, and body ground connections.

SOURCE: 2002 sonata 2.4l battery dash light on. replaced alternator. Still not charging

I don't know if your car has an integrated regulator or not; some house the regulator in a section of the alternator case, others mount it remote from it. The regulator monitors the load and battery voltag,e primitively but effectively, and controls the current flowing through the field winding of the alternator to ground, changing the magnetic field intensity and consequently the voltage output of the alternator. The 'hot' end of the field is internally connected to the + output, the 'cold' end is controlled by a transistor inside the regulator which, in turn, is controlled by circuitry monitoring the system voltage.     Some alternators can be tested by sticking a wire through a specified opening, actually shorting the controlled end of the field to ground briefly, while monitoring the voltage across the battery, doing this though for seconds only. This essentially bypasses a suspected defective regulator; this causes the output voltage to rise instantly to its maximum of ~17 volts if the alternator is OK.
I don't recommend poking a wire at random into an available opening so having a service manual (Haynes-Chilton) would be nearly mandatory.

SOURCE: new battery and alternator. Battery still won't hold charge

Check all your fuses if you had a system failure it could have blown a fuse. I am not sure on your vehicle where the fuse is in the car or under the hood it could also have a relay. You can check your alternator by checking the voltage at the back of the alternator where the big wire bolts on. You should have 14+ volts at the alternator.

SOURCE: i have charging system problem on my 2006 toyota

your battery could have a dead cell and still register 12 volts when not running,, if your getting 13.67 volts on the posts with the car running, the alt is fine,, but the battery is faulty,, take it and have it load checked, that way you can be sure it has the amperage that its supposed to have,

What does it mean when it says service battery charging system? 2006 Buick Lucerne

It could mean several things, but ultimately there is a problem somewhere in the electrical charging system. Either the battery is bad, the alternator is not charging, or possibly something as simple as a corroded connection bad enough for the system to see a voltage drop.

The battery light came on and next day it died and had to get a jump, replaced the battery but the light is back on. A light that says "service battery charge system" is on now. What does this mean?

your car has an alternator that is supposed to charge the battery. The light comes on when it doesn't. Most likely your alternator needs to be fixed, though it could simply be a loose fan belt.

"Battery charge system" means "Alternator" and the associated wiring.

Headlights are very dim

If the lights are dim when the engine is off, but brighten when it is running, it means that the battery is going bad. If they do not get brighter with the engine on, then you have a charging system failure. This may be due to a blown fuse or a slipping belt, but may also mean that you need a new alternator.

I drove Volvos for 17 years. Finally learned that a New battery had a short. Meanwhile, I'd changed out alternators. Switched it to a generator. It was a bad battery, from the get go. Just a thought.

I have a 2005 buick lacrosse that would not start when i was ready to go home from work today. I had someone give me a jump and it fired right up. on the way home the DIS showed the battery was at 14.3...

It will show a charging sytem failure with the key on and the engine not running due to it can not charge with the egine not running. If it was showing 14.3 volts while the car was running it is safe to say your charging system is ok and you have a bad battery that needs replaced.
