1997 jeep wrangler 2.5l

I have noticed that alot of jeep owners are having the same problem ! changed the plugs wires cap, and button, and even the coil took the valve cover off, and made sure the valves are in good condition.
replaced the exhaust /intake gasket and even the TB gasket and still havent figured it out runs like it needed a bad tune up there is also a missfire at more than one spark plug the only other thing is the crank sensor or the timing . any ideas ????

Similar problems backfiring/lurching/ misfiring/bucking for me related to the battery sliding into the computer wiring harness disrupting sensor / injector input and output signals. I cured problem by placing a 1" spacer on rear battery clamp, pushing battery forward.

First check the firing order plug wires, then check the timing , not sure of this but check the timing by lossening the distributor while enging is running and manually rotate the distrubutor to adjust timing, by ear w/o a timing light. maybe need to be retarded or advance a bit. check auto maintence manual for firing order.

I had the same problem with my 1997 Wrangler. I seem to of solved this by turning the ignition to off then depressing the lock on the immobilizer. Then waited for about 10-15 seconds after the red light on the dash quit blinking fast . Then I hit the unlock on the immobilizer and the Jeep started and ran ok. I guess the immobilizer is the culprit and it doesn't unlock initially
