the thermostat will be directly connected in the radiator hoses, If you follow the output of the radiator to the engine, there should be a spot where the hose connects to a metal piece that houses the radiator (this should be connected directly onto the engine.) This piece will have a bolt on both sides of it and to remove it you will just need to take off the bolts. You should take off the hose first to make sure the thermostat is in this piece and you didn't find some other device. When you take off any hose, it will probably start draining the fluid, so have a bucket or something to catch it. The thermostat just sits inside this device but take not of how the old one is sitting because you don't want to put it in backwards. You may also have to replace the gasket if you wreck it when you take this device off. Overall, it is pretty simple. If you already bought a thermostat, you are just looking for a metal piece that is a little bigger with two bolts on the sides holding it on. Please let me know if you have any trouble or have another question, thanks.

yes, ford & nissan designed van together. has nissan engine & trans.
SOURCE: Where is the port located for recharging the AC on
You should see it right by the compressor pulley. It will be a aluminum colored tubing with a cap on the port. The compressor pulley is the one that engages and disengages when the a/c is on.

DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN BELT. It will break your crankshaft!!!!
The tension for the A/C compressor drive belt should measure 603-691 N (135-155 lbs) for a new drive belt or 495-583 N (110-130 lbs) for a used drive belt. The lower limit for drive belt tension is 196 N (44 lbs).
