I started my explorer and heard a pop then smoke came from under hood towards back of motor. Now it will not stay running unless I hold the gas to the floor.
Checked all fluids and they are good. I was not overheating or anything. Car had been parked for about 3 hours and drove fine on my way to work.

well if no fluids are running out from under it , that's a good thing , but yes it can be lots of reasons not to start some sort of silly <(like out of gas ) or hey my favorite now , I didn't have any gas so I used boat fuel in it ,its the same thing right? , yes ive heard that one before
id also have a real good look around under the hood (use a flashlight) for anything that "just doesn't look right" aside from that you'll need to take it to a repair center for evaluation
The smoke under hood means that u need replace gasket between exhaust pipe and engine but smoke and knocking is not very good, it looks like your engine pistons has cracks and u r loosing oil by smoke time to time, i'd buy used engine from crashed car with less miles on it
SOUNDS LIKE THE IDLE IS TOO LOW! YOU MAY NEED TO IDLE IT UP JUST A LITTLE! YOU CAN EASILY DO THIS AT THE THROTTLE PLATE UNDER THE HOOD! THERE IS A SMALL BOLT, OR SCREW LOCATED ON THE BACK SIDE OF THAT PLATE! TURN IT CLOCKWISE, AND IT WILL RAISE THE IDLE!
sounds like the ignition switch shorted out like a wire was rubbing and im sure it blew the fuses your going to replace the egnition switch and repair any wire thet is bad and replace the fuse
they will only go on one way, the hole on the the hood lift is larger at one end. just match up the hole size to the bracket on the hood and pop it on.
