Runs great V-8 but when comming to a stop or somtimes starting off it wants to stall, I can usually keep it going by pumping the gas other wise it runs smooth

I had a 78 rabbit did the same thing. It was the fuel pump relay. The connector was under size and burnt up. When you star the car on the old Rabbit the pump runs off the ignition switch. Once it starts the relay needs a pulse from the distributor to let it know that the car is running and keep the pump running after it starts. If not the relay times out and pump stops pumping gas. Its for safety so if in a accident and the engine stops the pump wont pour out gas

The relay may be faulty [ test that first ], but it's most likely the pump that's bad.

Your first bet is to check the simple stuff: air filter, spark plugs, spark wires and ignition coil. It is also possible, although unlikely, that you need to replace your fuel filter.

This is a fuel pump issue. i would replace it and the lines as well.also, a minor tune up wouldn't hurt as well. wires plugs distributor cap points etc...
