That humming noise may be your fuel pump burning out. Try turning the key to the on position while someone else listens near the gas tank. The humming should only hum for a few seconds so you won't have time to listen yourself unless you can hear it from inside. If the hum continues and doesnt shut off, it is likely a bad fuel pump. It is normal to hear a small hum for a couple of seconds , but when it starts getting weak, it will hum louder, longer, or not at all

SOURCE: 2001 chevy malibu- when car starts cooling fans do not come on but then do

your coolant temp sensor on the engine block is probably faulty, however, keep in mind that if it really isn't all that hot outside they may not need to turn on. Once you activate the A/C the fans come on automatically since they have to cool the condensor...

If your car is not overheating do not worry about it.

SOURCE: chevy 2002 malibu radio wont turn off

First of all, make sure your iginition switch is completely in the off position or your radio will stay on. I had problems with this and all I had to do was make sure my shifter was locked in the park position (try jiggling it around in park until it clicks). If that doesn't help, the fuse for the radio is located on the passenger side of the vehicle on the side of the dashboard- you have to open your door to access it.

SOURCE: ON A 2001 CHEVY MALIBU THE BLOWER FAN ONLY WORKS

The blower fan uses a multi segment resister to control the fan speed, it is generally mounted just under the blower in the ducting. The reason 1,2 and 3 are not working is, sections of the resister is burnt out. The lower speeds are the first ones to go since they get hotter due the higher load in soaking the unused power. Resister is around $20. look for blower resister.

2001 Chevy Malibu the car cranks but wont start I can hear the whine of the fuel pump coming on when I engage the ignition switch to on position, I can prime it and it will run for a few seconds...

sounds like a security problem-if the light is flashing leave the key turned on for about 10 min. until light stops flashing and then try to start engine-if this works you need to replace the pass loc sensor(ignition cylinder and housing)

My 01 chevy malibu theft deterrent light is on and my car wont start or let me get my key out of the ignition what can i do?

turn the key to the "acc" position. you will notice the theft light flashing. leave the key in this position for exactly 10 minutes. the light should stop flashing. turn the key back to the off position and then start the car as you normally would. Works every time!

I have a 2005 chevy malibu, and one morning it just wouldn't start, the car never showed signs of anything wrong, and when I turn the key it just make a beeping noise.

I have a Chev 2004 Malibu and so does my cousin.. This is a problem that A LOT of these cars have, but Chevy does not see this as a SAFTY issue... so they will not fix it. This problem will continue to happen to you.. there is NO way to fix it or by pass it. Basically your ingition is not recognizing your key, and this is Chevy's crappy way of keeping your car from being stolen. You will notice when your car doesn't start, your THEFT SYSTEM light is BLINKING... What you need to do is, when this happens to you, leave your key in the ignition, and turn it to ACC. Leave it there for approximately 10 minutes, until the THEFT SYSTEM light is SOLID, not BLINKING anymore. Turn your car off, and then turn it back on. Your car should start right up. I had this happen to me EVERY SINGLE TIME I got in my car for 2 weeks! Then it stopped and I thought it wouldn't do it anymore. But just as you need to be somewhere and you are running late.. THE CAR KNOWS!!! And it will do it to you again! Good luck!

My 1990 chevy silverado suddenly wont start. It started just fine until this afternoon and suddenly doesn't even turn over. What can I do?

when you turn the key you should hear an electric clik sound from under the steering column. If not your ignotion switch is bad, not the cylinder where the key goes but the switch. If you do hear a click, then check your starter soleniod. This happened to me 3 weeks ago and it was my starter.

2001 chevy malibu wont start

Is your theft light flashing. If it is try this. I learned this from emission wiz Put your key in turn it on dont start wait 10 mins remove key wait 10 seconds repeat this a total of 3 times. If that dont work try a different key do the same thing. This relearns your key to the ignition it started with Gm cars and trucks from 1999 to to 2006. It is a big problem but there is no recall that I know of. If that dont work a dealer needs to probably replace and reprogram your ignition switch and keys
