If i'm not mistaken the light beside the battery sign is the check engine light. this lights up if anything under the hood is not functioning the way it should. Unfortunately i cannot be more specific on this. It just means that you could be staring at a major repair, or your gas cap could be too loose (no kidding).

Well as you've mention your oil is dropping at a very fast rate then its a good place to start checking. You can check if your oil seals are ok and might as well check all the filters...oil filters, fule filters air filters.

Hope i have answered your question. Goodluck!

SOURCE: Jerking on normal acceleration.

You might try a TPS switch. It should set a code but yours did't. The throttle position sensor sets the spark advance and fuel flow to match. The other possibility is the EGR system which also should set a code.
If you have not changed the fuel filter, try that because if you accellerate hard the fuel slooshes to the back of the tank.
In normal driving the contaminents lay on the bottom of the tank.

Pull your transmission (gearbox) oil dipstick and look at the oil. It should be a clean red colour. If brown or black change the oil as soon as possible because it is burnt and old ... you have slipping.

When driving under 50 mph car engine reves up and trys to change gears I drive it in overdrive should I turn overdrive off when not exceding more than 50mph?

the car will try to drive as economically as possible,so will try to run in the highest gear for a given road speed,in town driving,it is more comfortable if the o/d is OFF.but for cruising at,say,45mph,with a light throttle then o/d should be ON.

Try the fuel filter. If you have had the plugs, wires changed it may be the fuel filter.
