If you look on top of the steering column, between the gauges and the steering wheel, you will see a rocker type switch. If you see any orange color on the switch that means it is activated. Push the switch so that there is no orange showing and your park/running lamps will turn off. It is your park lamp override switch, Subaru has this option due to all power for lights turn off with the key in the off position. So they gave people the option to turn them on with the key even in the off position.

2002 ll bean will not charge after new alternator new battery 3 pin on alternator

I think I would check fuses and make sure you have good wire connections. If your battery ground is corroded or rusted badly you may have a bad connection and the battery will not charge properly. I found these link's which may apply to your situation.
Hope this will help

I have an 02 subaru outback ll bean...their is two green wires under the steering column should they be plugged together. .what are thry for?

They are for diagnostic purposes ! Turn the key on , don't start the engine ,then plug them together . You'll hear relays clicking an other thing's happening ! Don't leave them plugged in !

1997 Subaru Outback Overheating, 129,000 miles

it sounds like the thermostat is sticking and i agree with the mechanic that that should cure the problem. If you still have plenty of fluid in the radiator that rules out a leak and if you had the timing belt replaced then the mechanic should have done the water pump along with the timing belt.So that leaves only one thing and that is the thermostat.
