It may actually BE in neutral. AUtomatc transmissions that are low on fluid often have trouble staying in gear and will slip back into neutral at times due to lack of fluid needed to engage the hydraulics required to go into the desired gear. Checking and topping up fluid may solve your problem.
HOWEVER, if it is low, they where did the fluid go (it doesnt evaporate!)???
If it isnt low and its going into neutral improperly when the stick is in drive.,..you likely have some serious engine control or transmission system problems needing immediate service. code pulls may help, but aside from a few remote issues, if its not low fluid, you really need to seek expert advice on transmission issues
Doesn't sound like a tmission prob sound more like a throttle position sensor. Not sure what a speed sensor is but that is what you are ok . I also know a bad air pump will cause similar problems . Switching is done by air which can cause some crazy problems.
