Timing marks are off. Get access to the crank mark and cam marks. Make sure they are in the right position. Reset them , turn the crank two revolutions by hand and make sure they are still lined up. Not close, but lined up. If off a bit, use a pry bar on the tensioner, tighten up and recheck.

1992 rough idle

Could be anything. Vacuum, valves, rings, tune up. Check vacuum lines. Then check compression before you do a tune up. If you have bad compression in a cylinder, tuneups don't help. In that case, either drive it till it dies or replace/rebuild the engine.

Nissan D21 automatic wont move when running

Check the trans fluid level first with the engine running. If its low , top it up. Then go back and have them take care of the valve issue.

SERVICE PROCEDURE FOR VEHICLES WITH RUNS ROUGH/MISFIRE CONDITION:
1. Perform relative compression check on all cylinders. If abnormal, check cylinder leakage and actual compression for "low" cylinders refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-00.
2. If leakage/compression check indicates a valve train concern, per valve train diagnostics in WSM, Section 303-00, replace cylinder head and cam assembly, pipe plugs and timing chain tensioner, per procedure outlined in WSM, Section 303-01.
3. If cylinder leakage and compression tests are inconclusive, perform misfire diagnostic, per TSB 05-22-8.

1997 nissan pickup 4wd, just had timing chain replaced , now have noticeable knocking noise coming from valve cover ? mechanic says need new stack shims on valve rockers ?

Not likely. You have a 4 cyl engine with over head cam. It has hydrolic lifters. If it wasn't making the noise before he replaced the chain, then its something he did...or didn't do. If it was making the noise before, most common reason would be 1 or more lifters not pumping up. If you have a six cyl, no one changed the timing chain, (It doesn't have one!) The 3.0 6cyl has a belt.
