Anti-theft system can keep vehicle from starting , Alarm is for vehicle content theft , open door without key alarm sounds (horns) ! PATS - passive anti theft system PATS enables and disables the engine from starting ,it will not cause the engine to die ! You have some other kind of problem ! If the vehicle engine doesn't turn over an red light on top of dash flashes fast ,then you have anti-theft system problem !
PATS differs from the perimeter anti-theft system in that PATS enables and disables the engine from starting. If equipped, the perimeter anti-theft system protects the perimeter of the vehicle (doors, hood and trunk) and sounds an alarm.
{: ) The PARK ASSIST OFF message will be displayed when the parking assist system is disabled due to conditions that disable or inhibit the system. The object alarm module requests the DIC display PARK ASSIST OFF when it detects one of the following conditions:

The parking assist system is manually disabled using the driver information center (DIC).
•
An object is attached to the rear of the vehicle, such as a trailer, bicycle rack, trailer hitch receiver, or tow bar.
•
The object alarm sensors are covered by snow, mud, dirt, slush, or ice.
•
The vehicle bumper is damaged.
•
Excessive paint thickness on a replacement object alarm sensor.
•
The object alarm sensors are disrupted by vibrations, like those caused by a large nearby vehicle or from heavy equipment such as a jackhammer.
The SERVICE PARK ASSIST message will be displayed when the object alarm module detects a malfunction in the parking assist system and the system is disabled. It could be one of your sensors is at fault or even the module.
go around to the drivers door and use the key to lock and then unlock the door, or use the remote to unlock the car. if that doesn't work u have a problem in the security system and will need the system scanned.
YES!... with various system operating difference. Disconnecting the alarm does not disable it.. it only silences the alarm. You will still need the Keyless Entry System Remote to RESET the alarm to start the vehicle.
Use your door key and unlock your drivers door ... that is what disables the alarm system. Make sure that the battery is rehooked... because i'm sure you took the battery loose when you couldn't get the alarm to turn off.
