I have a 2004 pt cruiser that sputters on acceleration - it has new spark plugs and i recently had the fuel system cleaned out. Any other suggestions?
If no check engine light is on, I would try to replace the coil pack first. Usually on these cars a drop in fuel pressure associated with a bad fuel pump should throw a code.
Should be your cam shaft sensor. I had the exact same issue and this fixed it. This is a 40 dollar part and is easy to replace. It is located at the driver side of the engine next to the air filter box. Remove the air filter cover and unscrew the hose clamp at the back. Pull the air filter out and pull up the remainder of the air filter box by removing the air hose on the left side. You will see a red tab on the electric plug. Slide this out with a flat head screw driver and then push down and away on the wire side of the clip. It should slide off. Now the cam shaft position sensor is easy to remove. Two 8mm bolts hold it in place. Make sure you put the new green gasket in place and put the new sensor back on. Reverse order on re install of other parts. This should take care of it.
