It indicates a blown head gasket and the compression pressure is getting to the cooling system
have a compression test done to check for head gasket or cracked head

SOURCE: ford probe won't start

distributor is placed wrong for timing
take cap off unbolt distributor lift enough to turn rotor place back dont bolt litely just enough to hold distributor down without it poping up on you
place cap back on
now you need manual start and kill switch up in engine compartment turn vehicle over with manual starter switch if runs rough turn distributor till sounds good now time it with radar gun tighten bolts the rest of the way

now for what i described this has a margin of error going 1 to 3 notches to time in either direction from front to back or back to front turning of the distributor rotar
i hope i had made some sense heree695f1c.jpg
or counter clockwise the lifting distributor and turning rotor one tooth to engine crank this is timeing

SOURCE: Want to replace fron in 93 ford probe

1993 is a split year, if you have charging ports are a little bigger than the size of a tire valve stem then u have R12, if they are big then you have R134, most all Ford in 93 use R12. In the picture are adapters for a retrofit to R134, these screw on an R12 port, note the large cap R134 cap on the end of the adapter.

SOURCE: 93 ford probe no spark, gets gas, checked compression replaced cap

you should check power at each one to verify that they have power, which engine do you have 4 or 6 cyl? the 4cyl the coil is seperate from the distributor and the module is located on the side of the distributor, the 6cyl it is all inside the distributor, but to replace parts without verifing power is not cost effective. The most common ignition failure is the ignition module, but you still need to verify that it receives power.

Why do I have to floor the gas pedal to start my 93' ford probe?

The first thing I would check would be the coolant temperature sensor.

Ford probe idle fluctuating

Sounds like you have bad gas. It can get strong mix of gas to give you the right idle, but when it has water mix, it will cause the car to fire like it should. This will then give you a low, rough, or just cutting off idle. Try mixing water remover in with the gas. You may have to drain the gas out or just drive it like it is until the tank is almost empty. Fill up with gas (from a different store) and you may want to change the plugs after the good gas is through the system. I'm not saying the plugs are bad, but there may be a lot of moisture beads from the water sitting causing rust.

I have a 93 ford probe se the fuel cutoff light is on

when you are traveling about 35 or 40 mph press the brake just hard enough to make shudder let off do it again let and off. if you can control the shudder that way then its the brake if does not do it til you slow to a certian speed then the problem may be engine related. As far as the low idle there is an idle stabilizer which can definitely cause that problem. Or in some case an aged timing belt can cause similar issuses

1995 ford probe

Since it's turning over and you smell gas you probably have a spark proble. Check spark at plugwires and work back to the coil by disconnecting the smaller 3 prong connector at the distributor. Check for 520-580 ohms between the 2 outer prongs on the dist. side.  If that is good pull the cap and inspect.  Check resistance from the inner of the 3 prongs and the coil by probing the hole where the cap penetrates the high tension lead.  No resistance = Bad coil. Replace dist.  NEXT Remove dist. marking the rotor position and the housing position in order to replace it the same spot.  Tun th rotor and you should hear 6 clicks per rotation. this is the injectores taking spark. If none then CK1 (or camshaft sensor) is likely bad. refer to manual for in depth and double checking the routine. A Disty is aroung $200-250  or 1,000 at dealer. Even after all these checks there is no guarantee as the probe is known to have some really tough spark issues. Particularly the 93. This info is for 93 2.5L 6cyl., but translates well for most any car. ICM (ignition control module) cannot be tested unless your parts house has a tester. Th eprobes have internal icm and coil (in the dist.).
Remember. You can jumper from gnd and 10 pin too pull codes.
All this can be found in a 15$ Haynes manual which pays for itself the first time you have issues.  Feel Free t oe-mail me - I have gone Waayyay past this with my 93.    [email protected]

Ford probe

The fuel pump is very small and located in the fuel tank, these pumps are cooled by the gas around them, if you run out of gas it will overheat and many times fail, this is common.
