Well it would be helpfull to see what codes are stored in the airbag computer, but its interesting that the horn and cruise arn't working. Maybe before spending the money on having the codes scanned, i would check all the fuses, just incase.
The problem is likely with the clockspring in the steering column. The wiring for the horn button and the driver's air bag go through the clockspring. If you want to fix it yourself, I can probably find the procedure for you, but this is really a job for a professional auto electrician.
Airbag light AND no horn is most likely a clockspring problem (Wiring coiled up like a spring connecting the wheel to the column and alllowing a connection at all turning angles)
LOOK UNDER THE LOWER AIR DEFLECTOR FROM BELOW THE RADIATOR. IF YOU HOT WIRE CAR HORN AND IT WORKS.YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE AIRBAG IN STEERING WITH HORN CONTROL BUTTONS.YOU NEED TO DISABLE AIRBAG IN STEERING WHEEL WHEN REPLACING AIRBAG AND HORN CONTROL BUTTON PAD.JUST TURN OFF RADIO FIRST, THEN DISCONNECT REMOVE THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE.WAIT 20 MINUTES BEFORE WORKING ON AIRBAG AND HORN PAD IN THE STEERING WHEEL.
REMOVE HOTWIRE HORN OR PRESS REMOTE BUTTON LOCK CAR DOORS IF YOU HEAR CAR HORN BLOWS WHEN ACTIVATE CAR ALARM. HORN WORKING.MORE LIKELY THE AIRBAG AND HORN PAD NEED REPLACING.IF YOU GOING TO FIX. DISABLE AIRBAG IN THE STEERING WHEEL BEFORE REPLACING THE AIRBAG AND HORN PAD. TURN OFF RADIO.THEN DISCONNECT NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE FOR 20 MINUTES BEFORE REMOVING AIRBAG IN STEERING WHEEL.THAT HORN PAD WITH AIRBAG IS NOT GOING TO BE CHEAP.
I have a 2006 mitsubishi eclipse the airbag dash light stay on horn doesn;t work cruise doesn't work . Wiuld someone tell me how a person reoair it without taking it to a dealer . To get it repair . It's the " clock spring " . Dodge has a lifetime recall / replacement on this part. Somehow it controls the air bag and is tied into the horn and cruise control .
