Yes, i have a c230 mercedes kompressor.

The car knocks and diesels at a low rpm, i unplugged the mass air flow sensor and now it doesn't knock but of course the check engine light is on. does this mean i need a new mass air flow meter?

Not necessarily
when diesels knock and diesel at low rpms it generally indicates a dribbling or leaking injector/s
have an accredited diesel repair shop check it out
If it has some miles on it and the injectors have never been done then the injectors are a fair bet

Testimonial: "the car is NOT a diesel. and like i said, when i unplug the mass air flow sensor, it stops knocking so it's not the injectors."

  • Bill Boyd Apr 20, 2015

petrol or diesel, faulty injectors are allowing fuel into the combustion chamber before and in quantities that s causing preignition

    same problem as diesels

Please how can I get the appropriate air flowmeter for my mercedes benz c230, 2003 model?

short answer go to dealers parts counter tell VIN and BINGO.
long answer, blind and no VIN./
no country told, ours is USA
and parts for cars say in Europe are not the same
so buy it where you live (a big secret?)
the dealer has parts
and most auto stores,
buy parts based on VIN, not told
air flow meter is MAF here in USA< mass air flow meter.
and only fits 1 engine,
got the super charger?
wild guess 1
3.2-litre V6 engine with a twin-screw type supercharge
????????????????
we can not guess country nor engine or if boosted.
and all boosted engine need a super high flowing MAF>
2x normal or more (to suck more fuel) and or MAP too.
or c230 flex fuel?

not sure me, id never own any German car. (need to speak it to fix it)
schematics on them are , a x100 fold HORROR, and i'm good at them.

KNOCKING SOUND FROM THE EGINE

Preferably the car is driven in D.
Knocking occurs due to the following reasons:
- Partially engaged brakes or car is driven with hand brake pulled .
- Contaminated or low octane fuel.
- Fuel pump pressure.
- Heavy carbon deposits on combustion chamber and piston top.
- Faulty knock sensor.
- Faulty MAP or Mass air flow sensor.
- Exhaust system clogged.

My turbo is not cutting in

You could find that it is your mass air flow sensor at fault. doesn't always bring on your dtc light in the dash.
mass air flow sensor can knock out the turbo due to false readings being sent to the ecu. I have changed quite a few for this problem.

Why does my car throw the code P0100 and P0325? I have a 1995 Nissan 240sx. and it has a random misfire once in a while.

Hi,

Often a single issue can trigger multiple diagnostics codes, especially if the circuits are closely related.

Code P0100 = Mass Air Flow (MAF) Circuit malfunction

The computer has detected an issue with the MAF sensor.

- Verify the MAF sensor wiring is connected and wiring is in good condition
- Unplug and reconnect the MAF harness
- Check that voltage to the MAF sensor is within factory spec

Code P0325 = Knock Sensor # 1 Circuit malfunction

A knock sensor tells the engine computer when one or more of your engine's cylinders are "knocking", that is, exploding the air/fuel mixture in a way that delivers less power and can be damaging to the engine if prolonged. The computer uses this information to tune the engine so that it doesn't knock. If your knock sensor wasn't operating properly, so that it was always indicating a knock, the engine computer's response may have been to change the ignition timing on your engine. Knock sensors generally bolt into or thread into the engine block.

- Check condition of the knock sensor wiring.
- Test the 'Ohms' reading of your Knock Sensor (undo the connector and measure the pins) to ensure it is within spec (ask Nissan for this measurement). If out of spec, replace the knock sensor.

Cheers,
