Think because we had the cap closed to the master cylinder

Bummer deal! Sounds like a bubble is in the system. Remove it this way to restore normal brake pedal action.

Try first, bleeding the right rear cylinder this way. Then all other cylinders:

Open the rr bake bleeder screw. Then attach a 2 foot rubber hose over it while open - with the other end in a 2 inches of brake fluid in a quart bottle. Fill the master cylinder with fluid. Step one: Then press the brake pedal down to the floor - up and down 5 times, with a once second pause before each press down. Refill the low fluid master c level. Repeat Step one twice more. Tighten the bleed screw, remove hose .Step two: Do the same to the left rear cylinder and both front cylinders, but do 3 times to the floor, refill master c, then switch to next wheel c. The motor running. Hope this helps. ....gc

SOURCE: 2002 Hyundai Accent Problem

first thing i need to know is did the timing belt break?
second is are you sure you aligned the timing marks and after the belt tensioner was tight you rechecked to make sure the timing stayed where you had it.
next step would be a compression check to if a valve was bent whenchanging the belt
i have seen this happen and this engine is an interferance engine.

SOURCE: replced front brake pads and calipers adjusted

Bleed the master cylinder first. You have to do that before you belled any calipers or wheel cylinder.

SOURCE: right front brake caliper freezes up on occassion

You either need to rebuild it correctly, or replace it - which is the most common thing to do. Since you probably have crud in it, you may have the other side crud up as well, so the best thing to do would be to change both. -or redo both brakes on the front end. Hope this helps, Rick

SOURCE: change hyundai accent 2001 front brake pads

Once the car is jacked up, remove the front tires, then whith a 12 wrench key, remove the bolt that is located on the rear side of the caliper, not the one holding the brake fluid line buth the one right next to it. Pry the brake pad holder off and then remove the brake pads themselves. You will need to press the caliper's piston in, to be able to fit new brake pads since new pads will be thicker.

How to bleed the clutch on a 2002 hyundai accent

its the same process as bleeding brakes- except you pump the clutch pedal and loosen the clutch slave cylinder located by the front motor mount instead of a brake slave cylinder.

what i do is just loosen the slave cylinder bleeder screw and let it all run dry. then disconnect the reservoir from the master cylinder and clean it out with brake cleaner because all that black junk rests in the bottom of that. theres still more in the line, so reattach the reservoir and fill it up. let it bleed all the way back down the line and proceed to pump and bleed the system. if you know how to bleed brakes it should be a piece of cake.

I replaced my caliper on my 2001 Hyundai accent and now the wheel is locked I cant moved the wheel ?

open the bleed screw and relieve line pressure . If the pressure builds up and doesn't release the check the master cylinder reservoir for over full of a master cylinder problem.

My brakes are locking up after i drive my car around 20 min. I have replaced everything from the master cylinder to the calipers including hard and soft lines. New fluid and bled them thoroughly. When it...

To and from the master and calipers. Did you replace the calipers also? Lock ups usually occur when a brake hose is bad or the caliper is bad/binding. Drive it and check the wheel the gets the hottest. Short drive. They get really hot, be careful( will take the skin off your finger). You can get new, bad calipers. The booster and proportioning vavles will not cause a lock up.

I just replaced both front rotors and pads, along with the driver side caliper. My next step is to now bleed the brakes. my question is do i need to bleed all 4 brakes or just the 1 that was replaced?

you don't need to bleed front brakes if you only did rotors and pads. If you look at the master cylindar, there are 4 lines coming off of it, one for each brake. Only bleed what you replaced.

I just replaced 1 caliper on a 2002 hyundai accent. Im in the process of bleeding the brake. Do i need to bleed all 4 brakes or just the 1 that was replaced?

You don't need to bleed all of the brakes, just the one you installed. Hopefully you have someone handy to help you out. In case you aren't already aware: open bleeder, press brake all the way to floor, close bleeder, release brake and repeat. Don't run out of fluid. For future reference there is tool out that fills the lines from the bleeder to the master cylindar so you force air out of the lines from the caliper while also filling the lines. Good to have when you decide to replace everything. It's also a single person job so no more pumping the brakes, filling the resivor and keeping your fingers crossed that you got all the air out.

How do i change the front brake pads

First make sure you have the park brake on
Raise the front end make sure to support with jack stands
Remove tires

this should leave the front brakes exposed

there are two slide bolts holding the caliper in place loosen both and remove

then wedge a screw driver between the inner pad and the rotor and lightly pry towards you to take some pressure off of the caliper

you should now be able to lift off the caliper it will still have the brake line attached to it so be sure to secure it to something ie a bungie strap to the suspension or something do not just let it hang by the brake line

slide out the old pads out of the caliper mounting braket

now take a caliper press and push the piston back into the brake caliper use the old inner pad do not push directly on the caliper piston (if you dont have a caliper press just substitute a c clamp it works fine)

if replacing the rotors remove the caliper bracket once again two bolts

remove the caliper bracket

remove rotor

Make Sure to inspect the caliper for leaks or damage

To install reverse and youll be done before you know it

Make sure to lube slide pins with a small amount of brake grease and make sure the caliper moves freely apon installation

After you have done both sides

set down car and slowly pump the brake pedal about 15 times to close the distance between caliper piston and brake pads thats all

I hope this helps

Replacing brakes

hiya bonnie if you intend to DIY the brakes ? front pads? or rear shoes ? the front pads are easy enough for you to change in fact the pads/and calipers are virtually the same as ford and peugeot they are sliding type calipers that are held in position by 2x bolts that screw into the pins from rear of caliper when bolts removed the caliper pulls off reassembly is reverse after you push piston back the pads fit into the caliper carrier then refit/secure the caliper and pump brake pedal to take up the pads to discs B4 you move car then!bleed each brake a couple of pumps till fluid is clean the fluid that comes out first will be dirty due to heat absorbsion resulting in spongy pedal you will find pedal is more positive/hard when you bleedbrakes as i suggested brake fluid does absorb heat and moisture over time that is why it is recommended you bleed fluid to clear old fluid in lines nearest the cylinders hope this helps ? if you req further help come back will be glad to help best wishes from rochdale
