There is a lot involved here ,you'll be better off if you take this to a Chevy dealer . They have the factory training an diagnostic tools to check this !Or a good ASE certified repair facility ! The Active Handling System is part of the ABS - antilock brakes ! The control modules on this vehicle are intertwined on a class 2 serial data communication network ! The active handling has or had a malfunction an informed the engine computer ,so the engine computer reduced engine power an retarded engine timing !
The Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV) provides brake fluid modulation for each of the individual wheel circuits as required during an Antilock, Traction Control, or Active Handling (RPO JL4) event. During the Antilock mode, the BPMV can maintain or reduce brake fluid pressure independent of the pressure generated in the master cylinder. The BPMV does not provide more pressure than is applied by the master cylinder during an Antilock brake event. During a Traction Control or an Active Handling event the BPMV applies pressure independent of the master cylinder to the individual wheel circuits.
The EBCM continuously checks the speed of each wheel to determine if any wheel is beginning to slip. If a wheel slip tendency is detected, the EBCM commands appropriate valve positions to modulate brake fluid pressure in some or all of the hydraulic circuits to prevent wheel slip and provide optimum braking. The EBCM continues to control pressure in individual hydraulic circuits until a slipping tendency is no longer present. If equipped with Active Handling the EBCM also monitors the yaw rate error. If the yaw rate error becomes too large, the EBCM will modulate brake fluid pressure to the individual wheel brakes as needed to restore the proper yaw rate error. If the EBCM detects a system malfunction, it can disable the Antilock, Traction Control, and Active Handling functions and turn on the Antilock and/or Car Icon (TCS indicator) Indicators in the instrument cluster.

Have the codes checked. There are to many possibilities for your car to list. Repost with the codes. Kind of problems it creates is lost power and handling.

What is wrong when i am seeing service active handling in my 2004 c5 coupe

You will have to have the codes read (with a scanner) to find the problem. There are several different sensors that are read to keep the active handling on. When the light comes on it disables active handling. Just don't racing around curvy roads until you get it repaired.

1999 Corvette abs lights & active handling goes off after starting car off and on two or three times then styas off

Your ABS module has failed. The ABS module is used as part of the Active Handling system, so it's also possible that the connector has either come disconnected or corroded. Try some WD-40 on the pins.

C1296 service active steering

Too major for this forum - you probably should research the code online.
It involves a pressure switch in the EBTCM ( electronic brake control model ) not reading the right voltage signal.
It could be a wiring problem or a faulty sensor which could require having the EBTCM rebuilt.
The active steering - traction control uses the brakes to keep the wheels from spinning or skidding.

What you are discribing is warped front brake rotors, have them machined true to take care of the problem.

Yesterday cruise control started disengaging for no reason along with a message that appeared on the dashboard "Service Active Handling"

you must first have the computer scaned for codes, this will tell you where your problem is,it will store a code. this code give you an idea of the problem and what to check and test, the cruise and the handling are mostlikely caused by the same problem, its hard to tell you what to check without the results of the stored codes,.

Service Active Handling, ABS and Traction Control Lights on

I have had exactly the same problem on and off for 3 years now - and just solved it last week thanks to another computer site. Remove and disassemble both grounds from the top of both the left and right frame rails adjacent to the front corners of the engine block. Completely clean the green corrosion from the internal parts with fine sandpaper and add dielectric grease then re-assemble. Clean the mounting bolt and frame hole while you're at it. Sounds time consuming and difficult, but it ain't. No more than 45 minutes combined. I am a technical airhead so if I can do it so can you. What clued me in was the problem always occurred around wet or humid weather. Also, the clock would always lose time overnite. That has ceased also. Good luck. Anyone know why my left headlite, when deployed, vibrates and shimmys??? Sully [email protected]
