Code c0475 if that helps anyone

The same thing happened to me! i was driving in the highway and suddenly my steering wheel clicked and my power steering was gone. I managed to drive it like that for a couple days while I researched what the problem might be. I finally gave up after numerous hours researching. I gave up and tried trouble shooting myself! So first thing i did was get it scanned a C460 code came up and i checked the fuse and it was fine. Since that wasn't the problem; with the car off I removed the cover for the electronic power steering motor and wiggled the wiring and made sure all the connector were probably seated and clicked. I turned the car on and it started working! The power steering was back! I did not disconnect the battery or anything  I do not know if it a temporary or a permanent fix but I just started my 5th day after i did this and power steering is working fine! Saved me couple hundred of dollars of diagnostic and numerous headaches! It's worth the try!

I have a 2008 model Equinox and my SUV has electrically assisted power steering. I had to have my truck jump started once and the garage guy hooked up the cables across the fuse that controls this steering unit. In my case this took out the 80 AMP
fuse in the motor compartment area. I had only manual hard
steering until I replaced this fuse. If you still have the SUV
with this problem, it could be just a fuse. Good luck.

SOURCE: electric power steering quit is there a fuse

The Chevy Equinox has an 80 Amp mega fuse that tends to fail and cause all sort of power steering and Stabilitrak issues. Before I messed with the belts or power steering pumps, I would check the fuse first.

SOURCE: How to Fit a Cabin Filter

Hiya...the cabin air filter is located below the front passenger/windshield area.
It's only accessible by standing outside the Equinox with the hood open.
Here's how to do it...(before you pop open the hood)

1) Stand outside at the front-right door area.
2) Just below the front windshield area, pull up a few small black plastic clips that's on the black windshield wiper cowl area- a small flat screwdriver or a special clip-remover tool is handy.
3) Raise the hood up.
4) There may be a triangular-shaped hard foam sound damper at the left side nearby the hood hinge...pull it off if it allow you to work around it with ease.
5) Continue to find a few black plastic clips around the black windshield wiper cowl area.
6) Gently pull up the black windshield wiper cowl cover with care not to bend it too hard during removal.
7) You should see the cabin air filter inside that's held in place by a black rectangular box inside.
8) There's 2 black tabs that holds the cabin air filter in place.
9) Insert your finger or tool to pry the cabin air filter away from the tabs.
10) Remove old cabin air filter.

Remember to reinstall the clip parts back into place when you're finished.

On a 2006 chevy equinox. how can I tell if any of the control module are malfunctioning. showing no codes.

You need a scan tool that can communicate with the vehicle. One that is able to scan the entire system and will let you know if there are any issues outside of the ECU

How to reset stabilitrak on a 2007 chevy equinox

Your vehicle has electric power steering !
The Electric Power Steering (EPS) system reduces the amount of effort needed to steer the vehicle. The system uses the power steering control module (PSCM), torque sensor, power steering motor rotational sensor, power steering motor, discrete battery voltage supply circuit, and the GMLAN serial data circuit to perform the system functions. The PSCM and power steering motor are each serviced separately from the steering column assembly. However, the motor rotational sensor is serviced as part of the power steering motor, and the torque sensor is serviced as part of the steering column assembly. The PSCM also monitors vehicle speed from the engine control module (ECM) via the GMLAN serial data circuit. At low speeds more assist is provided for easy turning during parking maneuvers. At higher speeds less assist is provided for improved road feel and directional stability.
Stability System Indicator The IPC illuminates the stability system caution indicator when one or more of the following conditions exists. The EBCM sets any one of many VSES-disabling DTCs. The EBCM sends a serial data message to the IPC requesting illumination.
Traction Control System Indicator
TRAC OFF The instrument panel cluster (IPC) illuminates the TRAC OFF indicator when the following occurs:
?€¢
The electronic brake control module (EBCM) inhibits the traction control system due to a malfunction in the traction control system. The IPC receives a serial data message from the EBCM requesting illumination.

?€¢
The Body Control module (BCM) detects that the traction control switch has been pressed (signal circuit is low). The Body Control module (BCM) sends a serial data message to the EBCM in order to disable traction control. The IPC receives a serial data message from the EBCM requesting illumination. The BCM sends a serial data message to the radio in order to activate an audible warning.

Your best bet is to take it to a ASE certified an qualified repair shop ,that has the diagnostic tool to fix this problem .

Would A 2006 Chevy Equinox with just 40,000 miles

Possibly. It depends on what the climate is like where you live. For instance, if you live in an area where the summer climate hits 110 (i.e. Phoenix), then your vehicle will need to be serviced more regularly. Best recommendation, take your vehicle to AutoZone, Checkers, O'Reillys, etc. for a free diagnostic check.

2006 Chevy Equinox - Service Lamp Reset

Turn the ignition to run. Within three seconds push the gas pedal to the floor three times. Turn the key to off, and then start the car. The light should flash three times signifying that it reset. If it does not, try repeating the process, but instead of turning it to off after stepping on the pedal, just start the car.
