When my battery died,I had to put the car in neutral to push it back 4 feet for a jump. Now the 4 wheel icon light stays on. What would cause this to happen? And approximately how much is repair?

Dangerous practice to try & jump a near dead battery

Always try charging a battery, that is only a couple years
old & not run down more than two or three times

If the battery is dead & reads less than 12 volts, have a parts
store test it or just replace it.

Jumping a cars battery is not a fix for anything,so I fail to
see how your lost & have not addressed the battery issue,
so you can continue on with other testing,if needed

is the IMMO light off, it has its own lamp, mine is sold read, no words, no icons, just red. if on, it WILL NEVER RUN.

if not jumper start it. if IMMO is off.

on the transfer case area there should be a relay to tell it to go in to 4x4. now once you put a blazer in 4x4 and no longer need the 4x4 En-gauged you will need to put the blazer in revers and back up 10 to 15 feet to get it out of 4x4 before driving.

When you are finished with your 4 wheel drive,put the transmission in neutral, disengage 4 wheel drive and shift to reverse then back up a couple feet before shifting to forward gear.

try put in to nutral hit 2 low then put in revers back up 50 feet put in to drive pull forward and you should be out of 4 wheel

If the battery is bad and not holding a charge, every time you push on the brake's. The break lights come on and puts a load on the electrical system and if the voltage drops below 10.5 volts, the ECM will shut down fuel injector and ignition system. The other thing to is that the fuel pressure may be dropping due to the electric fuel pump not getting enough volts every time you put on the brakes. You cold always try keeping the jumper cables connected to make sure it's the voltage drop that is causing the engine to stall. Try putting truck in Neutral and let it roll slowly a few feet at an idle.

Check the actuator (located under the battery plate). Remove the battery, then the plate, and you'll see something that looks like a horn attached to hoses. One side is soft, and may have a hole in it. This will cause the vacuum not to work, hence, your 4WD won't. Good luck!

to engage pull lever back in to 4H and move truck forward 5 or 6 feet then back up a hair the auto locking hubs on the 88-2000 are all like this for 4L put truck in neutral and push lever all the way forward then repeat the moving of the truck to disengage put back in 2H and back up 6- 10 feet and that should disengage going in and out of low range you must have the truck in neutral or you will damage the transfer case

i have a 98 durango and it sometime does the same thing. i asked a mechanic and they told me that it is still partly engaged. the thing that i found to help is if you can, put the car in neutral disengadge part time, then back up for at least about 20 feet. that is what i found would help.
