I want to install a break controller on my 1995 dodge dakota.

If your vehicle came with a "Trailer Tow Package" there will be a four wire connector located under the dash, usually tucked under the carpet near the pedal support bracket. If that is present it will have the circuits you need.
Chrysler tried to make it easy to hook those up. And you may even find the connector and pigtail in the vehicle. (they shipped it in the glovebox, however it may have been relocated by now)
If it doesn't then you will have to hard wire it. But look first.

Most auto parts stores will carry the Hoppy or Hopkins wiring kits. This kit will allow you to plug right in to the exsisting wiring without having to cut or splice anything. If they don't have it on hand, they should be able to order it.
