The underside of the pistons, cylinders and rings are lubricated by splashing oil. If the oil level is with no oil splash to lubricate for too long a period of time, could be a cause. Having low oil level with just enough for the oil pump sump pick up will not set off the oil pressure light but can cause engine damage. Check your oil level regularly.
Did you get it hot,the temp gauge doesnt read steam. i am guessing it has a 3.0 overhead valves, not convince on timing belt, it doesnt have one. with only going by what you wrote, just worn out, or you head checked it,got it hot.
As the pressure should be around 150 psi , there are several reasons for this
bent valves or no valve operation from a broken timing belt is the first suspect.
badly worn rings
rings with no tension from an overheated engine
the first thing I would check is the cam shaft not turning

Hi!
Per the Ford manual, the acceptable range is 155-195 PSI. It sounds to me like you don't have a compression issue with this engine (without knowing the exact readings for each cylinder). Normally one cylinder being higher than the others, but still within spec, would not concern me a lot. Had one been much lower, then I think that might be cause for concern. There could be many reasons for the one hole being higher. If the engine hasn't been rebuilt in a long time, there could be carbon deposits in the compression chamber. There are many chemical fixes for this availble at your local parts store. If the engine is running fine with no pinging or detonation, I'd just continue to enjoy your classic ride (I own a 1971 Challenger converitble with a 440-6 pack, so I understand the joy of a classic car!).
Good luck and please let me know if this helps!

SOURCE: no compression in one cylinder
Timing belt slipped around cam pulley. Take off your timing belt cover and check the position. This would explain misfiring and compression loss. Stretched belt or missing cogs in belt likely culprit.

Either you may be using a key that you had copied from the original or your chip went bad in your original key. Most of cars now a days have the key censor in the key so if it is the incorrect key it will not start your car or if it does not read that chip it will not start
SOURCE: 2001 ford taurus will not idle down
several things can do this but most likely would be
1 TPS trottle postion sensor = replace
2 stuck butterfly valve inside the trottle body = clean out with trottle body cleaner try to get most of the black build up with a old tooth brush
3 bad trottle cable= feel the cable make sure it moves freely if not replace it

A good place to start is a ford dealer. Often they can cut you a key off the VIN number. You will have to go there in person., and some kind of proof of ownership would be needed!
