The airbag is held on by 2 plastic clips, they are shaped like a claw to release them you need a flat blade screwdriver to gently seperate the 2 parts of the claw. (there is a jaguar special tool for the job} insert the driver through the holes in the back of the steering wheel and twist 90 degrees. turn the wheel quarter turn to gain access.pull gently on the airbag at the same time, you need the driver to be the correct size its a bit of a pig to do, make sure you disconnect the battery first. the airbag electrical connectors are delicate so be careful, good luck

first you want to unplug the air bag. you do this buy removing the plastic surround around the steering column, where the ignition is, just below the steering wheel itself, then you have to remove the air bag by removing the bolts from the back of the steering wheel...

then get a steeering wheel removal kit, autozone has a loan a tool program.

put the steering wheel tool on and turn oit with a wrench adn the wheel will pop off...

SOURCE: remove rear door panel on x type jaguar

You'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. If needed, you can pull back the weather seal (can't reuse it, but it's not that important) and you will be able to access everything inside the door

SOURCE: how to remove jaguar center console

As in you want a diagram? Either way, I don't have one but I have managed to remove it. I don't know if this might help but I start off by forcibly removing it by holding on to both sides of the top of the console (where the ash tray resides). Upon removal, I remove the cover of the ash tray by unscrewing two screws on both sides of the cover. These require a cross screwdriver. I then take off the connectors to both of the buttons where the gear lever is. The leather surrounding the handbrake is a bit tricky to remove. Slowly unbutton it then remove the top plastic part; you might lose the little spring that holds the button if you aren't careful. Then open the arm rest. Two Torx screws are located by the pivot point of the arm rest. I'm sorry I can't remember the size (most likely an T8). That's just about it. Hope this helps

SOURCE: 2005 jaguar xtype how do i adjust headlights

If I am understanding your post, I believe you do have a levelling
system and it should be near your light switch on the dash. It is
the type of switch that you depress first, it then springs out and
you turn the small knob (just like your instrument panel lights
adjuster next to it.) What you do not have perhaps, if your car is
not fitted with HIDs (high intensity headlamps), is the automatic
levelling system which is a legal requirement when HIDs are fitted
due to the high power of the lights....

if you don't have a self-levelling system then you'll have a manual
system, operated by a knob under the light switch so that you can
adjust to compensate for a heavy load in the rear of the car.

Testimonial: "I did see the little knob on the dash under the headlight switch. i thought it was to dim the dash lights i will check it out and let you know. "

How do remove a steering wheel from 1996 opel astra

Most steering wheels are held on with a large nut or a large bolt. To get to it you will need to remove the airbag.
**Caution** FIRST remove the negative cable from the battery to stop any power going to the Airbag. The Airbag has an Explosive charge built into it so be careful when handling it.
On the back of the steering wheel, roughly level with the indicator/wiper stalks, there are two holes. In each of these is a Torx bolt holding the airbag assembly in place. I think it's either a T27 or a T30. You will need a reasonably long Torx tool as they can be quite deep in the holes on certain models.
The airbag body should lift up and away from the steering wheel. This will reveal a Yellow wire to the back of the Airbag. CAREFULLY disconnect this wire. You will need to unhook the yellow peg on the connector before it will pull off. Put the airbag down somewhere where it won't get dropped, kicked or tripped over. I usually tuck it under the car so it's well out of the way.
Now you have safe access to the retaining bolt on the steering wheel. There is another black wire connector mounted in the steering wheel which you will need to disconnect.
The mounting bolt is an E20 torx head. Sometimes these bolt can be in very tight so you might need a power bar for leverage. Don't remove the bolt all the way. Pull the steering wheel toward you until you feel it go loose. Leaving the bolt in it stops the steering wheel smacking you in the face if it comes loose suddenly. Remove the bolt all the way and lift the steering wheel off.
**NOTE** There is a spinning plate directly behind the steering wheel. Pay close attention to where it is positioned as this controls when you turn signal clicks off after a turning a corner.
Refitting is...
-Reposition back plate for the indicators.
-Thread the yellow and black cables back through the steering wheel.
- Line up the steering wheel and push it into position.
- Refit the centre bolt and tighten until good and tight.
- Reconnect the black cable.
- Retrieve the airbag from under the car and reconnect the yellow wire. Make sure it is pushed all the way on and push the yellow retaining clip back into place.
- Mount the airbag back into the steering wheel and refit the two T27 bolts. It'll be a Pain in the Tailbone as they usually don't line up on your first attempt.
- Reconnect your battery Negative cable.

Re jaguar x series 2002 was the DSC optional? and do all have AWD?

i think from memory the 2litre xtype petrol and 2.0 diesel were launched about 2002 and were front wheel drive only. dynamic stability control was only on the 2.5 and 3.0 ltr which were awd cars

This is task for an auto electrician but you could check the wiring connection on the column possible only earth wire is disconnected. Especially if the horn doesn't operate as well. Allan Caution!!!!!!! Do not attempt to remove or test any yellow coated wiring or airbag assembly danger will trigger airbag deployment.

Loose steering wheel

Disconnect negative battery cable(10mm).
Insert key and rotate steering wheel until one of the mounting bolts for the airbag are visible from the backside (7/32 or 5.5 mm).Unscrew and rotate 180 degrees until the other is visible.Pry airbag off with a small screwdriver (being very careful) release yellow connector and place airbag aside with leather or vinyl pointing up.
Use a 24mm socket and tighten to 37 ft.pounds.
Reverse procedure to re-install airbag.
Connect cable and remember the computer will have to relearn its settings so car may run different for a while..
