First you'll need to take it to have DTC's - diagnostic trouble codes check to find out what part of the system is at fault ! Could have a sensor , control module ,or wiring problem !
Traction Off Indicator The traction off indicator, which is a LED located on the traction control switch, illuminates only when the traction control switch has been pressed and released, disabling traction control. It is important to note that a traction fault does not illuminate this indicator and that there is no relationship between this indicator and the traction fault message.
Traction Fault Message The IPC displays the traction fault message when either of the following instances occur.
?€¢
The EBCM detects a malfunction that requires traction control to be disabled. The EBCM sends a serial data message to the IPC requesting that the message be displayed.

?€¢
The IPC detects a loss of serial data communication with the EBCM

Traction Control System (TCS)
When drive wheel slip is noted while the brake is not applied, the EBCM will enter traction control mode.
The EBCM uses a 5-volt pulse-width modulated (PWM) signal to request the PCM to reduce the amount of torque to the drive wheels. The PCM reduces torque to the drive wheels by retarding spark timing and by commanding the throttle actuator control. The PCM uses a 5-volt PWM signal in order to report to the EBCM the amount of torque delivered to the drive wheels.
You would need a factory grade scan tool to check data PID's - parameter identification , all the sensors work within a specific voltage range 1- 5 volts an you can see this on a good scan tool !
The Traction control is part of the ABS system an there a several DTC possible
DTC B0827 DTC B0828 DTC B2745 DTC C0035 DTC C0035 or C0040 DTC C0040 DTC C0055 DTC C0110 DTC C0191 DTC C0201 DTC C0220-C0229 DTC C0240 or P0856 DTC C0244 or P1689 DTC C0245 DTC C0267 or C0268 and C067 or C068 DTC C0550 DTC C0899 DTC C0900
You best bet is to take it to a qualified repair shop !

SOURCE: rough idle on gmc 05 canyon

How bad is the idle??I have a 2006 GMC Canyon with 26000 miles.. one day on my way to work I pulled up to a red light and the truck was idling very bad..I stopped and check my oil it was in the middle of the L and F so I thought I was good.. I tried everything I was going nuts.. The next day I seen a friend of mine told him what was wrong and he told me to make the oil level was just past the full mark.. If the oil is not high enough it will screw up the timing and the truck will not idle right..So I tried it and my truck was back to running fine again..

Service stabilitrac appears on dash of my gmc awd savana, what does it mean ,can I fix it myself, and how do I fix it.

When this warning shows on dash it means the traction control system has experienced a fault and has turned itself off. You now need to have the traction control system scanned for the fault code or codes and then diagnosis can begin to repair the problems

What does "Reduced Power, Traction Fault" mean?

GM's power strategy will reduce power if it doesn't see proper charging. It does this to conserve battery power by shutting off non-essential electrical accessories. It can also mean that the traction control system is reducing engine power to avoid a skid. The traction control system gets input data from the wheel speed sensors to figure out if you're entering a skid or the wheels are locking up. One way to get you out of the skid is to reduce engine power or pump your ABS brakes. In your case you should get the trouble codes read. An ABS or traction code code could be a C, U or B code which can't be seen by a cheap scan tool or the tools they use at auto parts stores. GM had major problems with the ABS wheel speed sensors built into the wheel bearing hubs in these vehicles. The fix involved replacing the hub. So get the codes read by a pro scanner to find out which wheel sensor is setting the code. Then do the fix. Also, the P0128 is usually caused by a bad thermostat. Fix that first, because if the engine doesn't get up to operating temperature, the computer can limit some features.

2005 gmc canyon loses power when putting on the breaks, lights dim and heater fades in and out

I have an 05 canyon. It was running rough and losing power at stop lights. I got the throttle body cleaned and it runs great now. Try that its an inexpensive fix. It needs to be done about every 25,000 miles.

Can i disable traction control on gmc canyon

The problem with most newer vehicles is that many functions are controlled by computer modules which are prone to malfunction when spikes occur in the electrical system. Often this is a temporary condition and the computers can be reset by disconnecting the negative battery cable for a few minutes and then reconnecting it.

However, if the problem is persistent or keeps occurring, the faulting module (in your case the TC module) will need to be replaced. Most GM vehicles have a button in the vehicle that will disable the system (see the owners manual), but if one is not is available or is not working properly, check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUoV2ue7amY.
