SOURCE: Transmission Light and Braking problem

hello . did the dealer scan the vehicle anyway , if the light was on it should have a history code safe in memory and they should check for it . it does not matter if the light when out by it self ,it just means that the fault its not present ,(it sounds like a bad mass meter its a fuel manegement sensor that when it goes bad the transmision does not know the force created by the engine and therefore it cant shift properly)

SOURCE: jerking and losing power

Probably bad ignition system which can be anything from a failing coil pack, ignition wires or cracked spark plugs. Look closely for signs of missing by looking for cracks in plugs, bad plug wires or a white/green crusty chalk build up on the coil

These cars have a LKM light control module know for failure. Tons of relays and brain boxes also common failures. You need a BMW expert, and maybe someone here knows more.

I had similar problem and it sounds like a short, and a fuse is blown. Check your rubber wire housing at upper corners of rear hatch, in cold weather the rubber gets hard and comes away from hatch frame, and hard to notice, but what happens is wires rub on metal opening and short out. It took a couple fuses to figure out a short had to be problem, and sure enough, the hot lead was being grounded, so taped it up, reseated the rubber junction which is suppose to prevent shorts, should be obvious to check as mine was easy to see problem, seems pass side is trouble for some reason as I have helped others, and always the same side.

Hi there.
Well because its a auto box you could have a band or pump problem which is in the gear box and is bathed in auto matic fluid oil and that could be your problem as the bands do wear down fast on a lot of cars and BMW with there power that could be you.
So take it to a auto box people and get it checked out.

Losing power

Possible spark plugs or spark plug wires. Is your car 4 cylinder or v6? It's possible that there is moisture inside the distributor cap. If there is, dry it out and spray w40.
