No, you do not need to remove the torque axle bolt to replace the serpentine belt on your 1995 Buick Riviera Supercharged Series 1. However, you may need to use a serpentine belt tool to relieve tension on the belt before you can remove it.
Hello. It seems your Buick's engine is 'flooded' with gas in one or more cylinders. This will cause the engine to 'race' because of a fire in one or more cylinders. The engine gets to high rpm and stays there; this is not good! Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.
there should be a decal under the hood somewhere that shows the belt routing. if its gone you can probably go to the library and find a book of your car that will show the routing and you can either draw a picture or take a photo of it.
The 1996 Buick Riviera SC has two belts. An inner and an outer belt. The
outer belt is for the supercharger and the inner belt is the drive
accessory belt. Rotate the tensioner pulley (idler) and remove the outer
belt first. The do the same to remove the inner belt. Check all make
pulleys and make sure they are free of any debris or oil.
Install
Route the belt according to the diagram above leaving the tensioner
pulley for last and maintaining tension on the belt with your hand.
Rotate the tensioner pulley enough to slip the belt on. Inspect your
belt and make sure it on correctly before you start to put the outer
belt on. Repeat these steps for the outer belt.
Hope this helps (remember to rate and comment this answer).
yes.that is the only way.You have to unbolt the motor mount.
To replace the serpentine belt on a V6 3800 series non-supercharged motor, you must jack up the motor and remove a motor mount. Before going any further make sure that the factory belt diagram sticker is still somewhere under the hood; if not, make a detailed diagram of the path of the belt. You must then use a breaker bar with a socket (I believe 13/64") and pull it toward the front of the car to release the belt tensioner. Put the new belt on, tighten it, put the mount back on, and lower the jack. Thanks. keep updated for any more query.you can rate this solution

Passenger tire, passenger inner well cover, serpentine belt, pulley that attaches to harmonic balancer , nut for harmonic balancer, then harmonic balancer. Sensor is screwed to engine. Disconnect battery prior to and before install of sensor. The 3800 has a special balancer puller designed just for it, not sure were you could rent one it is a specalty tool.
The 96 Riviera has a motor mount that interferes with the removal and replacement of the serpentine belt. The motor mount must be loosened and the engine need to be lifted slightly to accomplish the replacement. Not good engineering on this model year.
The supercharged 3800 engine uses two accessory drive belts. The outer belt drives the supercharger. The inner belt drives the generator, power steering pump, coolant pump and air conditioning compressor. All driven accessories are rigidly mounted to the engine. Drive belt tension is maintained by the spring loaded belt tensioner. Each belt has its own tensioner. Remove:Place a jack with a block of wood on it under oil pan to support engine. Caution : Be sure the wood block extends past the width of the oil pan to avoid damage. Torque axis engine mount bolt where it connects the mount to the engine mounting bracket. Electrical connector from crank sensor. Engine mounting bracket lower stud and lower engine to allow stud to clear frame rail. Raise engine and reinstall bolt into torque axis mount. Lower engine to allow spacer to be removed. Belt(s) Istalling:Belt. Spacer. Remove bolt from torque axis bracket and lower engine. Electrical connector to crank sensor. Mounting bracket stud. Raise engine and install torque axis mount bolt. Tighten bolt to 87 Nm (52 lb. ft.) Good luck and hope this helps.
